This Year's Model Updates:

A sporty new XRS model debuts boasting a 170-horsepower engine and a sport-tuned suspension. Additionally, all Corollas receive a restyled front fascia and rear taillights. The LE model now has Lexus-like Optitron instrumentation, along with a cloth-trimmed center console and sun visors. Side curtain airbags, stability control and a JBL audio system are all new options.

Pros:
  • Refined and roomy interior, excellent gas mileage and crash test scores, long list of safety features, spunky XRS model, illustrious reliability record.
Cons:
  • Awkward driver-seat position, bland personality, gets pricey when even basic features are desired, sedan body style only.

  • Gotta Love Toyotas!! - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I absolutly Love my 05 Corolla!!! I choose it over the Honda Civic. And I am very pleased that I did. I looked at an S and the LE. I ended up with the LE! I have the in dash 6 CD changer and the side airbags along with the antilock breaks. It is a perfect car for a college student. I know I have a reliable ride! I love how tall it sits. I dont feel like Im going to be run over by an SUV anymore. I am short so I have to sit closer to the pedals and my arms dont feel cramped in this car. Its so nice!

The minuses: Car dogs considerably when A/C is on. The manual transmission is not very forgiving. I have driven manuals for over 20 years and I have killed the engine (in getting out of first gear) numerous times. The gear spacing is too tight overall (easy to confuse gears). Would like to see lighted pads for the CD/Radio, cant see which button one is hitting in night driving. Gas mileage has been good (33-35), but not as high as I had expected. My wife finds the steering wheel to be awkwardly placed and I find the padded rest arm on the driver door to be too small. Despite the above criticism, I am extremely pleased with the car, especially for its ride and quiet ride.

Great looking car, and great fuel economy. Good resale value and build quality very trust worthy. Only gripe is that on highway driving at about 75mph and higher there is a wierd buzzing sound coming from in my dash sounds like a bee traped in there very annoying, I plan on having it looked at. Oh yeah and if you go over 45 mph and put your back windows down it sounds like a helicopter is landing on your roof, kinda neat in away.

I have had the car for almost 5 months and have driven it in both urban and rural settings. Both performance and comfort of ride have been quite good. Mileage has been somewhat under the EPA estimate ( about 2 mpg) but is quite good. The primary accessories (heater, air conditioner, stereo) have all performed quite well. I have been quite pleased with the acceleration while cruising at 55-60 mpg on rural highways. This greatly facilitates passing slower vehicles without requiring inordinate clear straightaways. The car could be a little quieter when accelerating from a stop sign.

This is my second Corolla and I just love them. The newer one is a little less peppy than my 92 Corolla which I still have with 141,000 miles. I only notice the difference in the Azizona mountians and I believe it is because the 2005 is bigger and roomier than the 1992. The 2005 is a very comfortable car to ride in. I have bought 3 new cars and Toyota is the first one I have, that has not had any problems. The 1992 I bought used and ran it 3 years before changing spark plugs and then it really didnt need it. The key is to change oil and use Toyota parts. The 2005 is well built and I get anywhere from 32 to 35 MPG with the air conditioner running at all times. My 92 gets 30 MPG. Great Cars.

I worked for a dealership, and now I own a Toyota. I have to tell you, this car is the cheapest pile of garbage they have ever produced!! Recalls on computers, serpentine belt tensioners that fail, belts that make noise, intake manifold gaskets that crack and leak..

Me and my car have a love hate relationship. I love the design and the way it drives. It is very easy to get around in. I bought my car in 06 it had 10,000 miles on it but looked brand new, In June of 08 the fuel pump went out (new fuel pump cost 798.00), May of 09 cylinder coil went out replaced and it still isnt running right. They just dont make Toyota like they use to.

Purchased with 23700 mi.,at,cc,pl,pw for just under TMV price. Getting 30/38 city/hway mpg. Adequate power, quiet, like the visibility, head room, ground clearance, ease of access, ride. I am expecting excellent reliability.

Lack of personality seems out of context. It seems all who comment on my new Corolla, including my wife, like the small, compact body style, especially w/its sleek headlights and rear spoiler. Gas milage is awesome compared to my Toyota Tacoma Club Cab. The interior, although a dull grey color, is offset with the silver-grey gearshift. We love the dashboard, especially when it is lit up at night. Handling of the Corolla is super as it very responsive in acceleration & turning. There is ample leg room in the backseat. All-in-all, for the price, Id buy another Corolla over any American-priced vehicle. Ive been a Toyota owner since 1990 & have no plans change.

Overall I love the Corolla. Look at the plusses and minuses below, but you will not go wrong in purchasing this car. The only recommendation I have is to spring for the JBL Audio System.
