Model Overview:

Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.

Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

The car has been a trooper. Not in the least bit luxurious or fun to drive, but it gets you there.

  • Love at first sight - 2008 Toyota Corolla

I test drove my car when it had only 3 miles. Right now, it is about 19000 on my odometer. I really love my car. I took it for 3-4 road trips and it was doing very well. Never had any problems. I paid only for regular maintenance. Good gas mileage. I get about 40 mpg in the city. I love the way the car handles and I really like the exterior of S model.

  • Brake noise? - 2008 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I started getting this popping clunking noise from brakes whenever I take off from park position or after I have reversed the car and apply brakes. I only have 14520 miles on it. I bought it brand new. It is a loud noise. The dealership told me it was a normal noise. I dont think so! The other Toyota Corolla models from previous years dont make this noise. Beware before you buy 2008 Corolla. Other than this noise my Corolla runs great 28 mpg in town, 325 miles to tank of gas of 12.5 gallons.

  • Whats wrong with comfort - 2011 Toyota Corolla

I have tested and driving and owned Honda Accords (nice car but the year I had it, they engine light for low oil didnt come on until you were already out.. hence the car burned out.. nice..) and I have owned Civics and felt like I was driving a speedy but bumpy car, and the recent Mazda 3 with the larger 2+ engine, and BOY did that have nice power and luxury items.. and I just bought a Corolla. You know why? None of those other cars, though sporty and full of styling ideas, and lots of toys, drive as nice or as quietly. And it has great safety features. That seems to be discounted too quickly for flash and speed and I got really tired of the bumpy drives of my Civic and especially my M3.

  • MY TOY - 2004 Toyota Corolla

My sister has a 2003 Corolla and has not had any problems. This is my first Toyota purchase, and I have to say it is the best choice of vehicle that I have ever made. The car has a lot of pick-up and go, great gas mileage, all the features that I need in a vehicle and more, but most of all Toyota reliability. I have never owned a car that I can say I feel as safe as I do in the Corolla. I should have purchased a Toyota years ago!

  • Hmmmm......Toyota I got a bad one!!!! - 2004 Toyota Corolla

Car has its good and bads...great heat/AC, brakes, fuel econ. But, my car has had soooooo many little quality issues I have lost count. Door seals replaced, stero bezel replaced, lights,etc.etc.etc I think I got a Monday morning car becuase I seem to be the only unsatisfied Toyota owner in the world.

  • LOVE IT! LOVE IT!!!!! - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I just bought my new Corolla after my Civic drowned. I had been researching cars for over a yr and this was the winner based on history and consumer report trends. Though it was a last minute thing that I HAD to buy a car I am so happy I chose this one. It is cutuer than the Civic and a little more spicey.

  • First Toyota - 2009 Toyota Corolla

My first non American car. I just traded it in on a Ford taking a huge financial hit to get rid of it. I bought a Corolla S for Toyotas reputation of quality and its rated fuel economy. The fuel economy was great I got 32-33 mpg combined with my type of driving. Quality, not so great. Front window gasket leaked as it was installed improperly. Rear seat belt didnt latch, rear window defogger switch overheated and stuck in the on position, windshield wipers quit working. The car had a funny way of steering no matter how hard I tried it always seemed to over correct (thats the best I can do to describe it). Not to mention the recall(for which I have not received an official notification.)

  • Excellent gas saver - 2009 Toyota Corolla

I got this car as a commuter and I am happy with my purchase. Impressive 29+ mpg on mostly city driving is great. The engine is also very potent. I test drove Honda Civic and Corolla feels the same.
