Model Overview:

Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.

Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

  • Great Car - 1997 Toyota Corolla

Ive been driving this car for the past 3 yrs. It has never caused any problems whatsoever, and Ive been communting to and from school pretty much every day. It still runs very well, and is very responsive. Drivers seat is very comfortable as well as the back seat. Trunk has a good amount of space, I just had to install a trunklight, no problem. Speakers were kinda low quality. The one problem I had was the door locks broke, but the dealer had that fixed in no time. Its a very reliable car, and I would recommend it to people looking for a realiable used car. Its very practical for a student/teenager.

The perfect blend of performance and fuel economy. Enough power to handle on-ramps on highways, while not breaking your budget. I bought it 6-8 months ago, and have not had any problems since. It is an economy car, so do not expect it to have perfect interior quality or to keep up with sports cars.

  • Mostly excellent - 2002 Toyota Corolla

Another typically efficient Corolla from Toyota - with the glaring exception of the 3-speed autobox. Its good for shuttling around town, but venture out onto your local Interstate and the car gets way too noisy and thirsty. A compact car such as this should average far better than 25mpg. So go for the 4-speed auto every time. Youll save yourself a lot of fuel and possibly your sanity too.

Lack of personality seems out of context. It seems all who comment on my new Corolla, including my wife, like the small, compact body style, especially w/its sleek headlights and rear spoiler. Gas milage is awesome compared to my Toyota Tacoma Club Cab. The interior, although a dull grey color, is offset with the silver-grey gearshift. We love the dashboard, especially when it is lit up at night. Handling of the Corolla is super as it very responsive in acceleration & turning. There is ample leg room in the backseat. All-in-all, for the price, Id buy another Corolla over any American-priced vehicle. Ive been a Toyota owner since 1990 & have no plans change.

  • Great Car, Reliability?? - 2009 Toyota Corolla
    By -

Only had the car for 6 days and 340 miles. Car ride and handling is excellent at all speeds. Road and wind noise is not bad and acceptable. Bought the "S" model with the "SX" sport option. Great looks! Gas mileage 28 mpg combined city and highway. Hope it improves to 32-34 avg. Only on 2nd tank of gas and has away to go to be broken in. Very comfortable seats, roomy cabin frt and rear compared to the competition in its class. Reason questioning reliability, is the "trunk latch" failed. Used 10 times. Had to rope down trunk lid via the rear seat when laid down. Brought to dealer for repair. Latch on order. Hope this is not a sign of whats to come? Toyota reliability? Hoping its just a fluke.

  • Love those Toyotas - 1996 Toyota Corolla

Bought the car used with 12,000 miles. Now has 80,000. Had a computer chip replaced about a year ago. Keep maintenance up to date and I hope to own it 10 years from now. If not, hope I can find a Toyota just like it with a comparable price. GREAT CAR!!

  • Sharp Vehicle - 2003 Toyota Corolla
    By -

We just purchased this vehicle and the first night we drove it home, the check engine light came on. The dealer is ordering parts to replace some malfunctioning computer chips. I was disappointed to have problems with a new car so soon. But Im banking on the Toyota reliability and hoping for the best. The dealership has been very cooperative and fair. We purchased the car because the S model looks sharp in white and is very economical with gas. We need a dependable vehicle since we put so much mileage on annually.

  • A in Economics - 2010 Toyota Corolla
    By -

Shopped around a number of cars, including hybrids (Toyota Prius and Honda Insight) as well as slightly bigger cars such as Mazda 6 and Toyota Camry. Tough to beat the 2010 Corolla S on value for money. Alloy wheels, sunroof, electric heated mirrors, cruise control, etc. I did the math in terms of fuel consumption and although I really wanted a Prius but the financial numbers just didnt stack up. I am achieving a real world 32 mpg in my commute and 38 mpg highway. The 5 speed manual is very smooth and effective and the 1.8 liter VVTi engine picks up easily under 2,000 rpm if youre in the mood to save even more gas.
