Model Overview:

Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.

Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

Toyota did a very good job at redesigning this vehicle. For the money, I think its the best value out of the compact vehicles.

This vehicle handles well and gets great mileage, more then expected. I found it to be of fair quality overall. Its definitly a car I would like to keep for years to come even after I pay it off.

  • no cruise?? - 2004 Toyota Corolla

I like my Corolla. Its my first corolla, but my third Toyota. However, I was disappointed that my S model didnt have cruise control. Its not the base model, so I dont know why its not there. Rather unfortunate, as Ive gotten two speeding tickets. Variable intermittent wipers would have been nice, but I guess they have to save some features for the highest model. It also seems like I have a harder time seeing out the back when backing. The high rear end may be part of that, as may the rear headrests, but I wonder if the design of the ... what are they called, roof supports? ... may also contribute.

After 5600 miles with 4500 of those on vacation and road trips i can say that this 09 Corolla is worth a look at. The steering is not what some say you get used to it in fact it feels better than our 00 Lexus RX300 to me. I have had 6 new cars since 1998 (3 Hondas, 1 Subaru 2 Toyotas) and this is a good value. I am 5-11 210 lbs and the ride on trips is great the MP3 is great I am getting 32-38 and it is not even broken in. I have a friend that has a 2003 he put over 300k then sold it now has a 2006 with 110k and no issues. He gets over 40 mpg all the time on the hwy.

  • what an improvement! - 2003 Toyota Corolla

i am amazed at the new corolla! it really drives like a $20-25,000 car. very smooth on take off and quiet out on the highway. i think this car is a steal at $14-16,000. it looks great and the stereo is rich and clear. the manual transmission is really smooth and has good pep. i drove the sentra and the civic and while both were nice they really dont compare. why buy a camry?

  • 75K Review - 2004 Toyota Corolla

I had a 1998 Corolla VE before I bought this used vehicle from the previous owner at 65k miles. It was well maintained with detailed service records and looking at the records, there were no quality problems. Since then I have kept up with the Toyota maintenance schedule for this car and have not had any problems either. Overall, it has been reliable, fuel efficient, comfortable and rides quietly. The manual transmission makes it fun to drive. Clutch engagement at lower gears is a little abrupt. However, as you get used to the car, you will figure out how to work it smoothly.
