Model Overview:

Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.

Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

  • Solid, reliable car with no frills - 1998 Toyota Corolla

Have had my Corolla CE with 5-Speed manual transmission for past 8 years (73k miles). Runs same as when new. Its a small car that isnt great on the highway due to the weight and powerplant (and additional passengers and/or having the AC on will bog it down somewhat), but it was cheap, reliable, and gets over 30 MPG city. I have had no mechanical problems - just change the oil, etc. Havent even changed a light bulb. Overall a great value and I plan on driving it at least another few years.

We bought our Corolla CE with auto new, and have 65,000 miles on it. It has great reliability, reasonable pickup, good turning circle, and good ergonomics. It can be uncomfortable on long trips. I dont know how tall people can drive it comfortably (Im 57"). My carpool thinks its cramped. The radio goes into scan mode without warning sometimes.

  • NEW CAR - 2004 Toyota Corolla

THE CAR IS WELL BUILT WITH EXCELLENT POWER. IT HAS A VERY SLEEK LOOK AND, SEEMS TO BE BIGGER THAN PREVIOUS MODELS. WE FEEL THAT THIS CAR OFFERS THE FEELING OF DRIVING A EXPENSIVE MODEL CAR WHILE THE PRICING IS STILL AFFORDABLE. WE LOVE THE CAR AND HOPE TO KEEP IT FOR A LONG TIME.

  • Fun little car - 2009 Toyota Corolla

Great car. I drive 30,000 or so miles a year, and this car seems ready and eager to handle the task. I went for the impossible to find S with a manual trans, glad I did. Get into 5th gear on the highway, and although the tach shows 3000+ RPMs, its returning 36, 37 m.p.h. Amazing. Good pep, even with the A/C on -- which works great. My family of four took it on a weeks vacation, no problem. The trunks huge for a car this size. I have had no issues with this car wandering on the highways, and its been on the highway a lot already. I traded in a 3/4 ton truck (didnt need it) for this, and of course I miss the stuff my truck could do, but this is so much more practical for my life.

  • Nice for getting around town - 2009 Toyota Corolla

Just bought the new 2009 corolla and am impressed with the leg room for my teen kids. It is simple, elegant and very much affordable for a single woman who has teenagers.

  • Wow - 2013 Toyota Corolla

I just bought a 2013 Corolla S loaded. I am still in the high from it. I can tell you that thing is nice! Its not a boring ride at all. I have plenty of power for traffic maneuvering. I love how it has a luxury ride feel and how spaciousness the cabin is. I think it looks very cool and hip...especially at night. Not plain like some others say. This thing is sharp on the outside also...very sporty. I really made a wise decision buying this. Not only is it cool and stylish, but it will last many years to come thanks to Toyotas quality. I wish I had a garage to preserve it.

  • Perfect Commuter Car - 2009 Toyota Corolla

I really like this little commuter car that my husband bought for me. He drives it occasionally, and is 6 feet tall, and we both find the interior very roomy. We love the fact that it gets double the mileage compared to our Maxima. Its cute and fun to drive. Its nice that the floor in the rear is not divided so its comfortable for three rear passengers. We rented a Prius in California and loved it, but we live in the snow belt and the Corolla actually gets better mileage when you factor in winter driving conditions.

  • Basic Meh! Transportation - 1996 Toyota Corolla
    By -

A great but noisy commuting car with no style, requiring rustproofing and following a maintenance schedule to ensure its advertised reliability, particularly in snowy and salty climates. Mine came with a 1.6 liter engine and 3-speed slushy automatic with lockup that engages only at 48 mph. Merging onto highways a major challenge. Engine dies with a full load of friends going up steep hills and struggles when passing on the highway. Fuel economy is disappointing due to lack of gear ratios and overdrive. At more than 60 mph the engine runs hard and quickly eats up gas. Most efficient running at 50 to 55 mph. The aging shocks (especially rear shocks) were nice and soft before they broke.

  • Traveling FL guy - 2010 Toyota Corolla

I traded my car in while traveling to Maryland. After all the dealer tried to pick pocket me, I ended up pick pocketing them. I got the car for right at the TMV price and its awesome! The car seems to drift to the left a little not sure if its the crown in the roads or what. I am now in Maryland and nothing is flat here so hard to tell if the alignment is off or tire low. Great car, mileage is close to what sticker says. I averaged 80mph and got 35-36 mpg. I love the fuel economy.
