This Year's Model Updates:

A sporty new XRS model debuts boasting a 170-horsepower engine and a sport-tuned suspension. Additionally, all Corollas receive a restyled front fascia and rear taillights. The LE model now has Lexus-like Optitron instrumentation, along with a cloth-trimmed center console and sun visors. Side curtain airbags, stability control and a JBL audio system are all new options.

Pros:
  • Refined and roomy interior, excellent gas mileage and crash test scores, long list of safety features, spunky XRS model, illustrious reliability record.
Cons:
  • Awkward driver-seat position, bland personality, gets pricey when even basic features are desired, sedan body style only.

  • Its A Toyota! - 2005 Toyota Corolla

Its a Toyota...of course, its good! I absolutely love my S...traded in a Camry and like the S better. It is easier to get in and out than the Camry. Our local dealership was great also and really worked hard to get me a great deal...along with the extended warranty...and protection package. Since we also have a Highlander, we didnt need a big car....just something to get me back and forth to the office. This car is more than I could have ever imagined for the price.

  • My family loves it - 2005 Toyota Corolla

It replaced Honda Civic 1999 and in many cases is the opposite of Honda. It has much better power and pickup at low RPM but is less comfortable and loud at high RPM. It has generous backseat but less comfortable driver seat. It is better insulated with no vibrations coming through the engine or the stick. It has higher clearance but is also sensitive to wind bursts. My kids love it and prefer much over Honda. I liked the seat comfort of the Honda and its enthusiastic noise close to the read line comparing to never-very-good driving position in Toyota and a punishing noise at high RPM.

I am very happy with this car! Fun to drive.Gorgeous interior. Plenty of pep. A fun little commuter car. 26 inch fully assembled mtn bike fits in back. My gas mileage is 30 around town, 37 on hwy. A\C nice and cold. Nice control layout and function. Car is very well sealed from outside air. Moderate road noise, not super quiet (recommend loud stereo). Some Corolla reviews I have read talk about the tires skidding on turns and other nonsense. This car handles beautifully. It is tight and responsive, but its not a dang race car. If you want to play Fast and Furious, buy something else.

  • Excellent in Every Way - 2005 Toyota Corolla

Comfort is first class in this auto. The car is nimble and fun to drive. During a few cold spells last Spring, the heater was warm before I pulled out of my driveway---wonderful. The A/C is cold almost as fast. This is my fourth Toyota, although my last car before this was a Ford SUV, chosen by my husband. I will always purchase a Toyota for its style, safety, and dependability.

  • XRS is a good compromise - 2005 Toyota Corolla

One drive and I had to buy this thing - its nice enough to take your grandmother to church in - yet crazy enough to go go rip it up in the curves chasing that R32... It doesnt seem like its as fast as it really is and the guy in the WRX will give you a wierd look when he has a great deal of trouble passing you.... Its not going to beat an awd car from a light (for that youd want a neon) but it is one of the best all around packages of comfort, economy, safety, reliability, and sportiness that you will find for 20 grand.

  • My Corolla XRS - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I just recently purchased a Corolla XRS and have found it to be both fun and practical. I like the throttle sensitivity and 6 speed gearbox. The gauges are incredible. I dont like the (pretty much) solid rear axle, and the near SUV ride height. I would also like to see a telescoping steering wheel in time, as this one seems too close to the dash.

this is my second toyota corolla, and I like it! I wish the gas mileage was better, its only about 32mph with regular unleaded. It has great power on the highway, I never feel like im going to get runover by the semi trucks.

  • LOVE IT! LOVE IT!!!!! - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I just bought my new Corolla after my Civic drowned. I had been researching cars for over a yr and this was the winner based on history and consumer report trends. Though it was a last minute thing that I HAD to buy a car I am so happy I chose this one. It is cutuer than the Civic and a little more spicey.

  • Number one Toyota-san - 2005 Toyota Corolla

This is an excellent, solidly made small car. Careful Canadian assembly along with Japanese engineering combine to make this a world class ride. The VVT-i engine pulls smartly from a stop and hums along as only a Japanese 4 cylinder can do. The Toyoglide transmission shifts with aplomb if a tad slow on the downshift. The radio is fine and the Climate control reflects good design concepts. Engine serviceability is top notch. No timing belt here folks, a good on chain opens and closes the valves. Many electrical components are Denso sourced which is a good thing.
