Model Overview:

Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.

Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

  • Not what I expected - 2007 Toyota Corolla

At 6500 miles, weve had a rear trim weather strip/seal fall off. Gas mpg not what sticker called for (31 city/38 hwy) although not bad, were getting about 34 on the hwy and 27 in the city. Transmission shifts good, although it switches between gears a lot on the hwy, usually downshifting going up hills and mountains. This is probably due to a low torque/horsepower engine.

Love this car. On the 200 mile trip home, got 41.9 mpg out of the initial tank of gas. Just what we were looking for. Fun, fuel efficient, and nice looking. Get the windows tinted if youre gonna leave it outside though, it has lots of window area.

  • If I had a time machine.. - 1994 Toyota Corolla

If I had a time machine, I would have gone back to 1993 and bought another 94 Corolla! Up until a few weeks ago I had this car for several years, and traded it in to buy a new Matrix. I was so sad to part with it, because it has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. This thing made it to 210,000 miles with little more than me replacing the shocks and a few other minor things. Solid construction all around, and took a beating traveling across the country over and over again, even through the mountains, without failing once. Toyota really hit the mark on this one, and the reliability of the Corolla is what made me decide to buy another Toyota vehicle. Can you say low-maintenance?!

  • Surprised Myself and Bought a Corolla! - 2014 Toyota Corolla

I test drove the Mazda 3, liked it but getting the features I wanted drove the price into the stratosphere. Decided on the Camry SE and went to purchase it. It was just so....blah. Ended up test driving the Corolla S Plus. Did not feel like a compact. Feels roomy inside, big backseat, and fun to drive too. Ended up getting a deal too good to pass up on a fully loaded little red Corolla S Plus w/drivers convenience package. My husband wanted the Camry, but he has come around after driving the Corolla a few times. It is far more fun to drive and has plenty of room for my teenagers who exceed 6 ft tall in the back!

  • First Corolla, others to follow - 2001 Toyota Corolla

Bought this 2001 with 98,000 miles in January, 2009. Was a very clean, one-owner car. As of Aug 2016 we now have 230,000 miles on it, some rust showing, but it may give us another year. Only repair besides expected maintenance was the rack-and-pinion went out; replaced with inexpensive used part. This car has been reliable, very good on gas (usually 35-40 mpg; winter that dips), and easy to park in our small parking pad. Oh, both front springs have broken, but since it still steers and brakes and corners fine, Ive not fixed them. It clunks on bumps, but tire wear remains normal. FYI, though, these 1.8L motors do begin to consume oil once miles add up. Oil return ports begin to sludge and restrict, causing blowby. Ive just kept a close eye on oil levels and add as needed. I used Amsoil for a long time, but now use inexpensive conventional, and synthetic in MN winter.

  • 187,000 miles and still going... - 1994 Toyota Corolla

I love my toyota corolla, it is the most reliable car we have ever owned. The maintenance is almost non existant. I would highly recommend this car to any one.

  • It had huge shoe to fit - 2005 Toyota Corolla

We first came to Toyota dealers with the Echo in mind. We needed a very reliable car knowing we where going to do enough mileage to run out of warranty within 24 month so coincidently fuel economy was a must. After test driving the Echo we were disappointed at the highway speed stability. So we turned to the base Corolla, Wow! 14 months later and the car has cost only fuel, oil change and tires. The car still drives like new just a few squeak come up once in a while. We are from Quebec so this car as seen + 35C bumper to bumper city traffic to -35C morning cold starting and as perform flawlessly. Design is boring on the inside but ergonomic is a gem on the long run.

  • As good as Civic - 2003 Toyota Corolla

good fuel mileage, tight build quality, handling is soso.

  • 04 Corolla LE - 2004 Toyota Corolla
    By -

Overall I would rate my Corolla B-. The good start off with the gas mileage which I think is great if kept tuned-up & oil change on schedule, it would save you a lot of money. Body style is cool but not made out of nothing can easy pick up dings easy. The driving on the highway gets rough due to car being so light it swings side to side when there any kind of wind I have a 92 Camry LE with 200,000 plus miles that drives much more smoother then my Corolla. Had transmission problems around 100,000 miles seem to be slipping but had the transmission fluid strain in the result work, havent had any problem again.
