Overview & Reviews
Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.
Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

Amazing Economy Car - 1997 Toyota Corolla
By yooper42985 - February 21 - 11:43 amI inherited my Corolla in 2004 with 114k miles shortly after moving away to college. It isnÂ’t sporty or sexy, but it was a far sight more reliable than the 1984 Grand Prix it replaced. The car now has 170k miles. In this time, aside from oil, tranny fluid, tires and brake pads all I have had replaced is the radiator, shocks/springs, and strut mounts. The radiator was actually still working fine, even with a whole rusted clear through it. But out of prudence, I decided to have it replaced. Gas mileage is great (24 city/32 highway), although I believe the newer Corollas are better with new technology. Not as good as a civic hatchback, but way more car. I have the 4 gear auto tranny.

Economical but boring - 2005 Toyota Corolla
By mnoeltne - February 21 - 7:16 amI tried to like this car. Its relatively inexpensive, it gets great gas mileage, and Toyotas tend to be super-reliable. Our Corolla is all of that, but its boring to drive, and I just cannot find a comfortable seating position in this car. Ive adjusted everything that can be adjusted and I still get pain in my lower back and upper legs after driving this car for more than 45 minutes. I ended up giving my wife this car, and I started driving our 04 Golf TDI. My wife is happy enough with the car so we still have marital bliss. But, I have to say that I probably will not buy another one like this unless the redesigned models have improved seating.

love it - 1998 Toyota Corolla
By MollyMac - February 18 - 10:00 amAlthough I havent had my car that long, I love the corolla. My car has everything I need. Lots of space to store things, power, good handling and turn radius, among other bonuses. The gas milage is great and I like the design. This car is very practical and a great commuter car.

Highly Recommend - 2005 Toyota Corolla
By Kevin - February 18 - 8:03 amI bought this car at the end of August of 2005 and wasnt too sure what the XRS model was. After 4 years of owning it, I think its a pretty good daily driver. Its fun to drive and has enough power to keep up with flow of traffic. The 6 speed manual is what makes it different from the other models and the 2zz-ge motor revs up to 8200 rpm which makes a really fun to drive when the lift kicks in.

Decent small car - 2005 Toyota Corolla
By ncskibum - February 17 - 10:43 pmWe bought this car as a replacement for a gas guzzler. We have yet to hit 33 mpg in town. My daughters 97 Corolla does better. I am 62" and find the front seats uncomfortable and the back seats impossible. I cant find a comfortable position for long drives because the steering wheel does not telescope. The seats do not offer much lower back support. I had a Civic for a month while the Corolla was getting a new front end. The Civic seats were more comfortable and the cloth was better quality. Civic had more pep but was also much noisier. Both cars suffer from not being set up for taller dirvers.
