Model Overview:

Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.

Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

This car is very good for driving distances. The gas mileage, I am happy with. The handling is pretty good. The only drawback, really, is the pick-up. The car does not accelerate quickly. That is really the only thing I would change. Its a great "school" care and one that will last you for a long time. I put about 22,000 miles since I got it in 2003 and have not (knock on wood) had any problems with it. Its a great car for the price. They could (which I think they did for 2007) make it a little sportier, for us young adults. Overall, dont pass it up for at least a test drive. The compartments and layout of the digits and the dashboard are great.

Traded in a 2005 Kia Optima V6 for the all new Corolla. Best decision I ever made. The Corolla S looks very sporty in and out. Fit and finish is perfect unlike the Optima. And Toyota quality/reliability speaks for itself. This car feels just as roomy and is way more comfortable than the Optima. This car is very fun to drive. I would recommend this car to anyone who wants a quality built sporty small sedan with great gas mileage.

We choose this car after months of research,we made the best choice. It is mineral green which is not like most greens you see. It is more like a silver green. Nice and small on the out side, easy to park in the city but roomy inside and we had a moonroof installed that just topped it off. The only problem is only one of us can drive it at a time.

  • An overall great car! - 2008 Toyota Corolla

I have owned this car for about a month now and have been enjoying it! It has great fuel economy and an extremely smooth ride. I love the LE trim...the nice wood grain on the interior and the comfortable seats. With 122 HP it isnt a sports car but it gets up and goes! The only downside to this car is I purchased it at 35xxx miles and the drivetrain belt had already gone on it. It was cracked and needed to be replaced -- fortunately under warranty. Everything else has exceeded my expectations! This was a replacement car after my 97 Saturn was totaled and I believe I made an excellent choice. Very reliable, safe and an overall great car to drive near and far!

  • Too much maintenance - 2007 Toyota Corolla

I used to like Toyotas, but since owning this Corolla, Im not so happy with them anymore. I bought this car brand new and had to replace the timing belt, brakes, batter and tires all BEFORE 30,000 miles. And now its been recalled because the engine might shut- off on its own at any speed and not come back on. I dont think so Toyota. Stop building junk. Ill never buy a Toyota again.

So far, this car has lived up to its billing. I am getting 33+ mpg and love having 4 doors. It is relatively comfortable and I like the styling.

  • Good till the last drop - 2002 Toyota Corolla

I purchased the car from the dealership as a certifed used car. Since then only had minimal problems with it. You know stuff like headlamps turning foggy and the Toyota logo on the steering wheel peeling off. Overall this car has been great. The car seemed to stop getting great gas mileage once it hit 100 thousand miles, and the suspension seemed to not handle so well too. But it got to 100 thousand miles before I even noticed anything lagging. Now it has 131 thousand, and I just replaced the spark plugs, the PVC valve, the O2 sensor, the belt, and the front springs and struts. In short it runs like it was new again.

  • Good car, but does have issues. - 2001 Toyota Corolla

A nice car, nothing outstanding, but still a very worthy buy. As the reviewers mentioned, the Corolla is very reliable car - though I have only owned it for 3 years / 36,000 miles. The car does seem to be put together well; no loose parts or rattling. Some problems: back seat way too small (no leg room), the engine performance isnt great (particularly with the a/c on), and for some reason my car has always had a problem with shifting into reverse. That being said, overall, this is a good car.
