Model Overview:

Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.

Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

  • Shouldve gotten the Yaris instead - 2009 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I went to the dealership to get a Prius and ended up with a Corolla. Bad decision. If I was looking at fuel efficiency and fun to drive and style in a Toyota, I shouldve listened to my gut feeling and picked up the Yaris hatchback instead. Its far more pleasing to the eye. The Corolla only excels in build quality and fuel efficiency. These are major things for most people and most people seem to definitely go past the looks and driving dynamics of this awkward-looking refrigerator. The interior is not bad except it looks more like the Korean cars of yesteryear, the floaty ride is good if I am the passenger and 4-speed auto is to dated, so as the drum rear brakes.

  • My first Toyota - 2009 Toyota Corolla

We traded in my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited V8(loaded). I loved, no, cherished, that car, but due to a long commute, we grudgingly began looking at Civic, Elantra, Focus, Fit and Yaris. After 2 months of test driving, comparisons and negotiations, decided on the Corolla S. I fully expected to feel disappointed driving it, but you know, its actually fun to drive! And its a great looking car too! We got the under and rear spoilers, alloy wheels and the sporty dark charcoal interior with blue accents (MUCH more attractive than the standard ash or beige velour) We are getting 38.5 MPG average (60% hwy/40% city) I dont even miss my Jeep! Happy with our choice!

  • Great Reliable Car! - 1996 Toyota Corolla
    By -

This has been a great car! I bought the car from my parents right out of high school. The car has been very reliable and gets great fuel mileage. This car has handled well on dirt roads and in town. For the most part I have only done the basic maintenance on the car: tires, oil changes, brakes. For the car having 230,000 miles on it, it has done really well. The only problems I have had are the lights for the air adjustment dont come on consistently and the rear struts just went out on it. I have been very happy with this car and am looking into other Toyota models to replace it.

  • Im Lovin It - 2004 Toyota Corolla

I made the right choice in giving up my 11 year old Toyota Camry LE. I love my new Corolla S 2004 so much that Im very disappointed when I get to my destinations. I love the interior and especially the look of the exterior (everyone says it looks like a baby Lexus). This is my first moonroof and it is awesome. Drives and feels tight around turns. All I can say is that I love it and would do it again in a heartbeat! Also all the reviews in Edmunds were the icing on the cake in my final buying decision!

  • Great Gas Mileage 41+mpg/hwy - 2005 Toyota Corolla
    By -

The Toyota Corolla meets my needs. Initially I purchased it as an interim car until I could afford my luxury car, but now Im in love with it and Im keeping it forever. The style is cute and the gas mileage is unbelieveable... 41mpg - no kidding. Ive put it to the test. The ride is good and it will seat 4 adults and one child comfortably; however, it could be a challenge if youre over 64".

  • Great car - 2007 Toyota Corolla
    By -

Just bought a month ago with ABS and side airbag options. Couldnt find one at dealers with ESC. Great car so far, approx. 30 mpg combined thus far. Very quiet, good backseat and trunk room. Considered a hybrid, prius or civic, but went with the Corolla for the price. Only negative is the drivers seat position related to the radio and steering wheel.

  • Good Car - 2010 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I have leased this car for 5 months now, driven 2500 miles and have had no problems so far. The car gets great mileage, I gas up once every other week. For those that say it is bad, fuel economy declines rapidly past 60 mph for all cars. Drive slower. I do agree with others, the steering is bad when there is a lot of wind. Also I dislike how the ABS comes on after every bump while breaking. Other than that it is a great car that looks great. I also like the sequential shift, it makes finding gears fun and adds class. Would buy again, but at a lower price. The interior is cheap for the high cost.

  • Beautiful and Well Built - 2010 Toyota Corolla
