Model Overview:

Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.

Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

Good reliable, well made compact car that gets very good fuel economy. A couple of things that bother me having taken so many long trips: the seats are not very good and I use a cushion to make things more comfortable. The brakes are average at best and you have to plan your stops. The car is really not that quiet on the highway but it is an economy car. The engine works well but the last year is making a droning sound that we thought was coming from the front end or tires. I changed the tires and had the front end checked, but not luck. The body is starting to show signs of rust on the hood of all places. You clearly need winter tires for traction in the snow because the car is so light.

Ive had my Corolla S for two weeeks now and really, really like it. Its comfortable, very quiet and, yes, its actually fun to drive. Personally, I like the way the steering feels, and I like the position of the clock (and other trip information). I drive 250 miles a day (yeah, Im nuts), and do mostly high speed Interstate driving. This thing keeps up with no problems, and the fuel economy is great. Smart move on my part.

  • value for $ - 2009 Toyota Corolla

Ive owned many toyotas, and traded in a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid to but the new LE Corolla. Why did I do this. Close to the same gas mileage, more fun to drive and about 1/3 lower payment. First, I helped a friend by one, then a girl I dated, liked it so much I got one myself. Definitely a high value purchase, solid on the road, maneuverable, and low cost to operate, considering gas mileage and inexpensive tires. I feel this car is the best for the $ out there.

  • Decent car for the money - 2001 Toyota Corolla

Overall, the Toyota Corolla is the basic transportation. No cruise, no ABS, and bland, boring styling. Its not bad looking, but not nearly as nice as the Civic from the same year. Outside, the car is fairly boring. The headlights are a neat shape, but thats about all I can say about the interior. This car is absolutely boring in tan. Inside, its still boring. Tan, tan tan. The seats are fairly comfy, no complaints there. Rear legroom is a joke. Trunk space is good, enough for a long trip. Overall the car has been very reliable, mass air flow sensor is the only major thing replaced. Other normal things like timing belt, etc.

  • CVT Is Horrible - 2015 Toyota Corolla
    By -

The new corollas are slow and its mainly because the CVT transmission. The engine and overall design of the car would be awesome with a real transmission in it but that rubber band CVT doesnt help it out at all. Slow acceleration, bad reliability and noisy. The new corolla makes more noise then it does power, my 2007 model is faster. The DOHC paired with just the four speed auto transmission in my old corolla is faster then any of the new CVT corollas. Glad I have a older model.

I absolutely love my car. To me there are no drawbacks. It gets great mileage, looks good and is comfortable for me to drive and for others to ride.

While i am driving on 45 mph and i hit the brake , then remove my leg off brake the car maintain steady speed of 20 mph. So i recommend to test your car before buying it by trying same step 1-Drive on 45 mph 2-hit brakes 3- remove your leg from brakes 4-watch your car speed

  • Good, economical car - 2004 Toyota Corolla

This is the first car that I purchased brand new.I like the dependability and reputation that the Toyota name provides. I get excellent gas mileage, Ive only done oil changes & 1 tune- up, my interior still looks new, it handles well and has good pick-up for passing and entering the freeway. I like my wood grain interior; it makes my car not look as economical. There is a problem with my factory alarm, but the dealer didnt even check; they simply said Im out of warranty. The back door wont auto-lock. Ive monitored my gas mileage since the first tank & I get 1 week on 11 gallons for 350 miles. I fit into tight parking spots. My biggest complaint is the paint chips easily.

I bought this LE model brand new. Since then it has been driven by 4 members of the family for a total of over 120,000 miles and runs as good as when we first bought it with no big repairs except the A/C. In fact, it still has the original exhaust system. We are in the very snowy Pocono Mountains in PA. It is only so-so in snow on the road that is over 3" without snowtires but Id still recommend it to anybody. The only better vehicle Ive driven is a Toyota RAV4.
