Model Overview:

Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.

Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

My s is great. Very quiet smooth ride handles great. I have had no problems with it so far. My mpg average at 37. My wife loves it. I paid 18,000 @ 0% for 60 months its worth it get an s not the le. Ive heard they have more issues. Negatives the wind does push it a little but if you cant handle that you really should have your license taken, needs a little more horse power but hey what do you expect is a 1.8 with excellent gas mileage. Get the s with a sun roof its really quiet even with the roof back

Last winter I got an average of 33mpg gas consumption, even going down to 27mpg a couple of times, - ALL highway driving! We did a test on it using cruise control set at 110 and 100 km and got much better mileage...as much as 49-52 mpg. However, we find that it vacillates even with settings at 100- 110 km and will sometimes give only 33mpg. We live in an area without high summer temperatures, and rarely use the air conditioning. It seems that if it creeps up even for only a few minutes to 120 the mileage is adversely affected. (And yes, I am using the correct figures for conversion of km and L to miles and gallons!)

  • Great commuter car ! - 2006 Toyota Corolla

Ive owned VWs in the past (Jetta and Fox), but due to our familys positive experience with our Sienna CE van, were now an all Toyota family. I love the mileage and the handling. Quality is great. Plenty of room for 4. Tight for 5, but hey, its a compact. Sound system is good. Auto lights are great. No steering wheel adjustment. Otherwise, I love it. Especially at the gas pump, although I havent gotten the advertised 38 highway (more like 35).

  • The Corolla is a Warrior - 1997 Toyota Corolla

No one has to tell that Toyota is the best car for the money. I bought my Corolla new in 1997 and have now passed it on to my son after purchasing a 2009 Camry. This car was so cute at first, then the paint begin to fade and the interior became a bit worn, but I never had to use public transportation... not ever. This little car has seen me through a lot and Ill always give the Corolla thumbs up. When I bought my new car, I couldnt help but lay my hands on "Ms. T" and say thanks for the ride. I had to replace a few minor parts, but nothing really major. Keep the oil changed every 3000 miles and this car keeps rolling. It should be in the car hall of fame.

I love the acceleration of my corolla and the smooth drive it gives me. I can put people to sleep going on trips! I was hooked up with some alloy rims and I love the stereo. I still dont believe its standard.

  • Reliable and sometimes fun - 2001 Toyota Corolla

This is my second Corolla and it is a great every day vehicle. The only 2 times this car did not start was dead battery and when dealership overfilled it with oil. From handling and power point of view this car performs fairly well - it is easily controllable and very predictable. I found the car to be very comfortable for long rides as well, even at higher speeds the engine noise is manageable and the mileage is great.

  • Worst car Ive ever owned - 2001 Toyota Corolla

Were scrapping the car today. It made it to 90k miles. It has the following problems: * The motor (1ZZFE) was built with a design flaw, but Toyota kept using it. Hundreds of people on the internet have reported the same thing. It burns oil until it hits a point where every 100 miles it burns 1 quart of oil. The engine went bad and needed a replacement starting at 50k miles * The catalytic converter is dead. * The rotors are bad and braking feels choppy. * The driver door handle simply broke off when I tried to open the door. * The clutch went bad at 50k miles. * Some smaller issues like a leak somewhere that mechanics couldnt find, causing repeated engine lights and EVAP codes.

If you want a dependable, reliable car with good gas mileage, this is it! I have 73K miles (purchased used with 27K miles) and no problems or repairs (except normal oil change, tires, air filter). Tho not fancy, I can depend I will get where I need to go, Ive never been stranded, and love my Corolla! Also good acceleration for a small engine/car.

I hate my car. Aweful suspension; body leans in turns, bouncy ride. Interior is baren. No CD player. Everything is an option. This car may last but Ill be trading mine in real soon. Look at another model of toyota.
