Overview & Reviews
Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.
Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

The egg wasnt rotten after all. - 2003 Toyota Corolla
By Poetesca - August 18 - 2:00 amI purchased my Corolla 7 months ago, and have constantly experienced the rotten egg smell a few other reviewers have also complained of. After some persistance, I finally got an explanation: they coat the catalytic converter with sulfer, which makes that awful odor while the car is being broken in (the manger I spoke with said this lasted for about 5,000 miles). I did research and it makes sense, and now although Im not thrilled with the smell the car emits once in a while, I couldnt be happier with the car, itself. Its cute, classy, fun to drive, and has some really convenient and fun features.

Great Car for the Money - 1999 Toyota Corolla
By basilisk4 - August 13 - 10:00 amThis is my second Corolla (the previous one having been a 1989), and I still love them. Despite what many car snobs have to say about the performance of the Corolla, I find it to be pretty darn good when you consider what else you get with this car -- safety and excellent reliability. The newer Corollas retain that safety and reliability and add a certain degree of style and performance, making for an overall excellent compact sedan.

In a Class All By Itself! - 2004 Toyota Corolla
By avelaine - August 13 - 10:00 amAfter driving all the "competing" cars, buying the 2004 Corolla was a no brainer. Having previously owned a 1993 Paseo (still going strong at over 200k miles!) I may be a bit biased, but none the less this car is great. I love the new interior styling. The size is more than adequate and very comfortable. WHOA! That trunk size is amazing. The dash is very classy and looks as if it belongs in a more expensive car. The backseat is roomy. It handles so smooth. The mpg is awesome. I love the color combo I selected (metal green w/ pebble beige interior). Really, Who COULD ask for anything more?

Great First Car - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By T - August 12 - 9:23 pmAs a 16 year old, this is my first car and I love it. I test drove the Civic but it doesnt even compare to the Corolla. The Corollas handling is much more secure and the dashboard is much more ergonomic. The ride is smooth, and the handling is tight. The fuel economy is great - I drove 363 miles and only filled up 9.9 gallons - about 36 mpg! The Corolla is a safe, fun, and well designed car and I would recommend it to anyone.

Corolla S Rocks! - 2007 Toyota Corolla
By Michelle - August 11 - 3:53 pmI picked up my 2007 Corolla S about 2 weeks ago, and my husband and I are Toyota converts! We love it. We especially enjoy thumbing our noses at the big oil companies! I find it very fun to drive, and I am a sports-car person. Ive even gotten double takes from Lexus drivers because it looks hot! We are looking forward to purchasing a brand new Camry in about 3 years to replace my husbands gas-guzzling F-150. This Corolla replaced another gas-guzzler, my Jeep Liberty. I love the look and quality of this vehicle. Theres not a squeak or rattle to be heard. I LOVE IT!

2005 toyota corolla - 2005 Toyota Corolla
By dm - August 8 - 9:30 pmWe have only had the car for 6 months but so far we have had no problems with it and my wife loves the car, she loves how it handles in the upstate new york snow she feels safer in it than she did with the jeep liberty she drove last year.

Mixed bag - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By N - August 8 - 3:13 pmGot the used car in 2008. High resale value bites both ways, doesnt lose much value when selling, but aint getting as much as competitor cars when buying. Decent build quality, but some haphazard metalwork and greasing present, probably clogged doors drain hole. Car is relative quiet and comfortable, but steering feels artificial, especially when hard turning corners; feels like wheel orientation and steering dont match up. Rattling present at 30K, unacceptable for Toyota. Lot of blind sides when backing up; lot of newer cars seem to have similar problems (trunk too high, pillar too thick, window too small). Bumpers cant take a hit. Reliable but disappointing purchase.

Boring - 2007 Toyota Corolla
By Cantonlax - August 7 - 7:50 pmThis car has proved to be very reliable, cheap and efficient, but little else. Gas mileage is high around 30mpg mixed, the interior is well designed and I like the layout. There is plenty of room inside and the outside has a nice style to it. This car is great for those who just want to get from point A to point B in a quiet efficient manner. Nothing about this car is exciting, fun, or comfortable. The seats are awkward and the steering wheel position is out of place. My "premium" wheels began to rust at 20,000 and my tires didnt even last 40,000 miles. This car has been OK to own, but I think next time I will give more thought to my purchase and pick something with more of everything.

Hard to believe its a compact! - 2009 Toyota Corolla
By John Blueblood - August 7 - 1:40 amPurchased a 2009 Magnetic Gray S Corolla. I cant say enough about it, the fuel economy is great, I drive in a lot of stop-and-go traffic and havent been on the hwy but Im getting 26-29 mpg. I love how wide the car is, my wife and I have a 2004 S Corolla and this is a different car all together. I love the steering and the ride but the brakes shouldve been 4-disc versus drum. Anyway, you get a Camry-like ride in a slightly smaller car. You cant go wrong with this car!
