Overview & Reviews
After a full redesign last year, the Corolla carries over unchanged for 2004.
- Refined and roomy interior, excellent gas mileage and crash test scores, illustrious reliability record.
- Awkward driver-seat position, bland personality, sedan body style only.

Unhappy - 2004 Toyota Corolla
By dissapointed - January 13 - 10:26 pmThis car was great at first. As the years and miles add up more and more stuff breaks. I had to replace the transmission this year due to internal failures which will not be reimbursed. All in all, a POOR CHOICE OF CAR. I will never buy a Toyota again.

Couldnt Get Used to It! - 2004 Toyota Corolla
By KC - December 28 - 11:26 amAfter having had a smaller SUV I thought I would enjoy a compact car. I love how the Corolla S looks, but inside I feel totally unsafe, too low to the ground and I cannot see out properly. This car has blind spots, and on the California freeways I feel very vulnerable. Driving is no longer a pleasure. It is scary! This car is fine for local around-the-town errands, but I could not imagine taking it on a long trip. Gas mileage is TERRIBLE! I expected about 32 - 35 MPG but I am lucky if I get 25 - 27 MPG. My small SUV did as well as that! I am going to sell this car and go back to a smaller SUV in which I have a better field of vision and do not feel so unsafe and vulnerable.

A very noisy automobile. - 2004 Toyota Corolla
By Mr. Jim - December 9 - 10:00 amThis is a nice looking vehicle and handles very nicely. There is some driveability problem when accelerating. My biggest complaint about the car is the tremendous amount of road noise and wind noise that we experience. The car is equipped with Michelin tires. The interior noise really gets to me at times where I just want to get rid of the car.I have heard complaints from other Corolla owners about the excessive road noise they also get in their cars.

Not the perfect design by far - 2004 Toyota Corolla
By selfshift - December 9 - 10:00 amMy biggest gripe is regarding Toyotas distribution system: using regional distributors is a thing of the past, they only add to the price of the car while actually lower customer satisfaction. Case in point: Southeast Toyota adds on all sorts of ridiculous accessories and equipment while not offering antilock brakes on ONE, you read it right, NOT ONE single Corolla sold in the Southeast, regardless of trim, transmission or color. Same goes for side airbags. My recommendation: check out the Elantra before you buy.

2nd corolla - even better than the first - 2004 Toyota Corolla
By MonkeysCanBiteU - November 14 - 10:00 amThis is my second corolla, and I love it. Its better than my 99 in every way. While performance is mediocre, it is an incredibly fun car to drive when mated with the 5-speed transmission. Handles superbly for stock suspension with semi-independent rear. A little more road noise than I would like, but for $14k, I cant complain.

Worth the wait...... - 2004 Toyota Corolla
By 1nyknight - November 14 - 10:00 amFirst time "New Car" buyer. I ordered my 2004 "S" fully loaded w/o side air bags. I have been testing every feature this Corolla comes with and I can say I am very satisfied. This Corolla EATS the roads, hills, straigts, curves!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic and Indestructable - 2004 Toyota Corolla
By Chris - October 5 - 6:16 amI ordered my LE 5-spd manual (loaded with goodies like leather, roof, etc.), and it has provided 58,000 trouble-free miles. This is the perfect car for someone who needs an A+ commuter car with no trouble. The interior materials are first-rate, and you would be hard pressed to find anything more comfortable or better-appointed at this price. The only issue I had a center console door that failed to close, which was replaced under warranty with no hassle. Fair warning, from a car enthusiast standpoint (like myself), this car is about as exciting to drive as a washing machine. You will want to have a "fun car" in addition to this one. Also, the steering feel is scarily horrific.
