Overview & Reviews
Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.
Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

I love My Car - 2005 Toyota Corolla
By Jules5 - February 19 - 10:00 amTen years ago I purchased a 1990 Toyota Camry. I loved that car and had a hard time deciding to buy a new one. Then I saw the 2005 Corolla S with the VP#1 options I fell in love with the car. It had everything that I wanted and the price was to good to pass up. Out the door 15,880! The ride is wonderfully smooth, the pick up to merge on the freeway is right there for you, and the front look of the car reminds me of a Jaguar...ok maybe that is streching it ...but I love the looK ;o I dont understand these comments that it lacks personality... with the S version of the Corolla you get the reliability of Toyota, but a look that makes heads turn. I love this car - 2003 Toyota Corolla
By Toyotaboy - February 18 - 12:00 pmThis is my 3rd Toyota, I have owned a 1987 pickup and a 1992 tercel. I looked hard at the Civic but just couldnt bring myself to leave Toyota, they have been very good to me. The new Corolla is long in coming but well worth the wait. The car looks and feels like a Lexus. This car is fun to drive and rides very well, also limited outside noise. The engine and transmission are perfectly matched to give good performance and crisp shifting. If you are in the market for a small sedan you will love this car and I highly recommend it.

Great Car - 2007 Toyota Corolla
By David - February 18 - 2:10 amThis is a nice little car. Looks bigger than other cars in its class. Has a pretty big trunk and is spacious under the hood. Did the first oil change and it was a breeze. Filter and drain plug are next to each other. My only complaint is the actual MPG I am getting is 30.5-32.5 hwy. Not quite the 39 hwy like Toyota advertises but still good. Great overall car, I am 63" and have adequate space, nice sound system with the 6 speaker 6 cd changer. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an economical and reliable 4dr compact car.

Longevity - 2008 Toyota Corolla
By Mark - February 16 - 4:00 amTraded a Nissan Frontier this car for the fuel mileage. First tank of gas was 38.5 mpg. Am going to upgrade all stereo components this coming week though the factory stuff is adequate. It gets up and goes for a small car. It is also much more quiet than a 2004 Camry that my wife drives. I can see already that I will get many miles out of this car

It is what it is, and its pretty GOOD! - 2016 Toyota Corolla
By Ron N - February 14 - 12:10 amFirst, I am a car enthusiast, and when I purchased my second Corolla, I knew I wasnt buying a sport sedan. My first Corolla was a 2012 S, and was last on my list for what I wanted to buy. It did everything well enough and had the rear space I was looking for in a compact. Power was good, it could have used another 20 or so horsepower, but I wasnt looking for a drag racer. The 2016 Corolla S Plus is a big step forward for the model. Overall, there is more usable room in this generation Corolla than the previous, not counting the substantial improvement in rear legroom, which was one of the qualities that drew me to my first Corolla. Interior materials and overall look, feel and finish are very good. The manual "sport" seats are very comfortable, and have good support. As far as the CVT transmission goes, it is better than most (in the S Plus trim) out there, equal to the Honda. In lower trims, feels very different and tends to keep a steady RPM for acceleration. In the S trim, the CVT has a Sport mode which simulates gear changes which works very well, giving a crisp response for each "shift". When not in Sport mode, and if one keeps a light foot on the throttle, it will go into Eco mode. Eco tends to hold RPMs, although not as bad as lower trims, and "feels" like a slipping clutch in a manual transmission when the CVT "shifts gears". Initial acceleration is soft, but once under way, acceleration is more than adequate for passing and getting up to highway speeds. One of the biggest improvements to the Corolla, mechanically, are the rear disc brakes. These are only available on S Plus and S Premium trims, and well worth any extra expense. The lower trims (L, LE and LE Eco) tend to drive and handle with a bland feel, but the S trims are more sporty and feel different, not any roll or wallow. There are other good cars out there, try them all before you make a decision, but the Corolla is not as bad as some try to make it.
