Model Overview:

Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.

Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

  • Small things matter!!! - 2003 Toyota Corolla

This car runs well, but there are a few things I hate about it and would be a deal killer if I had it to do over again. First off, the heat sux!!! (yes thermostat has been changed, and core flushed, etc etc). The heater is simply inadequately sized and this is VERY IMPORTANT if you live in a cold climate! Basically if temperature is below the 30s, it takes a good hour to be warm enough, and then Im at my destination. Anything in the 20s or lower and the heat is not even close to adequate- and foot area never gets enough heat. Ironically, my car has the "heavy duty" heater. Id hate to see standard heater. Secondly the car is LOUD, and I mean L-O-U-D! It picks up more road noise than any car Ive ever been in and Ive been driving for 30 years. I dont think this car has any sound deadening material at all, if anything it has sound amplifying equipment. Third the car doesnt have the sun band at top of the windshield. This is the dark blue stripe that should run across the top of the windshield. If you drive into the sun, this really stinks. I cant drive with the sun visor down all the time because then I cant see traffic signals. On the plus side the gas mileage is good and I think the car will be reliable. Had I realized how bad road noise and shitty heater is, NO WAY would I have bought this car!

  • Two generations could not kill it - 1995 Toyota Corolla

I loved this little car! It was reliable even when I gave it to my children. It seemed to even like abuse. The only problems were in the electrical hardware. The car went through alternators every 60K and a starter every 40K. Could be driving habits. At this time, it has 400K and still goes. I have a Honda now, but my next car will be a Corolla again

  • First Corrola after 3 Jettas - 2004 Toyota Corolla

Very solid, tight suspension and handling. Manual transmission is easy to shift but not sloppy. Extended service period is nice. No rattles or noises yet. Around 550 highway miles per tank. Very well built car for the price. Took the 120,000 extended warranty option. My last three cars have been VW Jettas. I think this one will last longer.

We bought this corolla new in 2000. The 2001 had just come out. It is rated for 39 highway and 30 city and thats exactly what it gets. Mine is automatic, white . It is the best car we have ever owned I also have a tacoma Truck which I love. We are a TOYOTA family! Will never buy any car other than Toyota.

Was going to get a Yaris sedan. My wife just got one and I really liked it, but there nowhere to be found. Glad I tried this baby. I traded in My 2001 Mustang that was in great shape, but the winters are getting tough for me to drive and also gas prices so it was a tough thing. But it took me 2 days of driving this car and I love it, not quite the pickup the mustang had but who cares. The steering that people are complaining about is touchy but you do get used to it, no biggie to me. I love the look both inside and out (Black pearl). MPG avg is 41 mostly highway but a little mix

  • Disappointing change - 1995 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I have now owned several Toyota Corollas with this being my fifth. I purchased this 1995 model from my mother in law in 2001 when it only had about 10,000 km. Previously my Corollas were 5 speed so this is my first automatic. I was pleased with the car for the first couple of years but Ive just recently had a large transmission job completed due to leaking seals. My mechanic told me this has been common to this year and model and Im very disappointed that Toyota did not recall these vehicles and pay to have the transmissions fixed. I am also very annoyed at ongoing engine noise which occurs upon acceleration. The soft idle turns to a tank sound.

Fun to drive, fun to look at, good on gas, reliable and held up beautifully when I was rear ended.

  • Solid but Boring - 2004 Toyota Corolla
    By -

Ive had the car for 4 months now and have driven a little over 10,000 miles. There is a good solid feel to the car and the gas mileage is excellent. However, the car has a few shortcomings - primarily the tippy, over-high feeling on the road, the lack of performance with an automatic, and the lack of front seat leg room. Also, when adjusting the drivers seat to the rearmost position, the steering wheel is far away, necessitating an "arms out" position.

  • Gogeos design. - 2016 Toyota Corolla
    By -

Driver position: All is an exeptional design, but small itmes that may need more attention. The driver seat may need lumber support, Arm rest to have better material and large enought. In general the councel area need some work, lift up the gear area to the arm rest level. The radio location to be tilted and little closer to driver position. The lighting of the air control (blue light) to be a neon light which straight across not to notice diferent bulb as old fasion bulb light. Also the dashboard the temp gauge should be neon background lighting or upto date tech lighting. It is outdated lifhting and touch.

  • A good reliable car - 1996 Toyota Corolla

I purchased this vehicle off the lot brand new, never had any major problems just regular maintenance and general upkeep changed a few batteries, timing belt after 100K and struts on the 150k mark it needed it. When it was paid off I just used the money I saved over a year and spruced up the engine. This car has become my favorite and of course well cared for still classy (did I mention Paid for). I started sprucing it up now everyone wants to buy it - sorry no sale here. I tricked it now its completely mine. Have to thank TRD Japan for its good supplies in the Asian Market for this vehicle. USA did not supply the 93 to 96 corollas well... stylish gas saver and good ole lil car
