Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.

Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

  Mine was actually a 4 speed auto, but manual was the only choice listed. I bought my Corolla in 2013, expecting it to be a cheap car that would be easy on gas, but it had problem after problem.It also had an oil burning problem. I learned a lot from this car though and it will hold value due to it being my first car ever. It was recently totaled and now I have an 02 Avalon. Heres to hoping that itll be less problematic than the Corolla.

  I have been driving this car for a little over a month now and I am very pleased. I was looking for something that gets good gas mileage and this car hasnt let me down - Ive been getting 40 mpg - about double what I had been getting in my Nissan Frontier and I have a 65-mile round trip commute to work, so gas mileage is important to me. Ive owned Corollas in the past and have never been disappointed.

  Wonderful car, fun to drive. Just traded my chevrolet equinox for this gas friendly vehicle. Went with Toyota for the company reputation. Really not disappointed so far. Comfortable ride, great MPG, nice engine. I use it to commute daily.

  Overall this car is great for the money spent. The design of the S model, a bit sporty, but still fuel efficient for all practical purposes. I have taken my car cross country three times in the year that I purchased, and it has been a joy. Compact, reliable, great on fuel and the 5-speed is just fun to drive.

  Plain and simple, the new Corolla is a well-built, great looking, comfortable- riding, highly fuel efficient car. My combined city/highway mileage is 36.4. Im a little puzzled by the occasional complains about steering and interior materials quality. My car steers just fine, and I feel like Im in a quality car inside. And the mileage is just about 8 mpg below a Prius. Again, great car.

  I love this car. I did a ton of research and was between the Civic and Corolla. I am so glad I chose the Corolla. I am averaging 33 MPG living in the burbs! The XLE interior is wonderful and I am glad they came out with this trim for 09. I was not looking for a fast car - my main priorities were: gas efficient, comfortable, reliable and stylish, and the Corolla covered all! I love the new body design for the 09 Corolla.
