Model Overview:

Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.

Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

  • You dont need a spoiler with a 1.8 - 2010 Toyota Corolla

I have driven this S Corolla for about a week and have owned 98 and 90 Corollas. The gas mileage is around 40 on the open road, so its going to do what a Corolla is supposed to do. The road noise level is acceptable and does not interfere with the radio. The interior has plenty of room, if you like to ride with your arm on the door it will be uncomfortable because it is farther away. If the 2.4 engine was standard instead of the 1.8 there would be less down shifting with cruise on when going up hills which is more frequent than it should be with the 1.8 engine. Electronic assisted steering seems to wander a bit, maybe a sensitivity issue or alignment? All in all I did buy it for the gas use.

  • Traded-in 09 toyota corolla - 2009 Toyota Corolla

Purchased this 09 corolla s model in DEC of 09 and traded it in on March of this year (2010). Corolla was garbage. Steering was horrible wind blew the car all over the highway and if a 18-Wheeler passed you, you had better hold on for dear life. Car was a death trap and after 4 months I had enough and got a 2010 Kia forte coup and the difference between the 2 cars is night and day. Easy to see why Toyota is having all these problems. They are not building quality cars like they used to. According to owners reviews on this site i am not the only one who had problems with the corolla.

Ive LOVED my Corolla!! Im the kinda car owner that wants to put my key in and have the car go and not need to know anymore than that. I wasnt fond of the dealer in Seattle re: maintenance (I was treated poorly)but luckily havent needed to go often! Im thinking of trading it in sadly but only to get more space of a minivan. I bought it as a childless couple and the carseat and long commute on the ferry seems to be shrinking the interior. If I had gone for a CE or LE I would have had that fold down seat to the trunk which would have fixed everything but...I dont :)

  • class but poor execution - 2003 Toyota Corolla

Looks good; fun to drive. Yet there seems to have been a rush to go from the interior design to the finished product. I have never had a new car with so many rattles. The CD unit rattles in the dashboard. The plastic "window" in front of the odometer rattles. The worst is a constant metal rattling above the front passenger window. I have had this back to the dealer 3 times, and they have disassembled the door frame but have not been able to stop the constant rattling. Without this problem I would be a very satisfied customer, but it continues to be daily frustrating!

  • 40 MPG and very pleasant to drive - 2010 Toyota Corolla

This was a Cash-for-clunkers deal. My former car was a loaded 91 Cadillac, so you might imagine an awkward transition, but I love it. The car is quiet, accelerates well enough, easy and pleasant to drive. The S in a dark gray, clearcoat, with tinted windows looks pretty sharp, not that much different than the little Lexus. First drive of 200 miles on the highway hit 40.7 MPG! I get 30 around town. Seats 4 adults very comfortably. Fold down back seats added versatility. Sound system is quite adequate with the 6 speakers. For the price, and I really shopped around, there is nothing I could find to match with such fuel economy. No hint of the weird steering issues others mentioned.

  • Reliability - 2016 Toyota Corolla

Buy a Corolla for its reliability. Yes there are cars in this class that will give you better handling and a smoother ride, but this car will provide worry free transportation well over 250,000 miles.

I bought this car this September, it was a trade up from a focus and I couldnt be happier. I dont have one complaint about it. Its wonderful.

  • Hate it!!! - 1994 Toyota Corolla

Because it doesnt die after 10 years and almost 160k miles. Still drives like new and I like to buy another car! Bought many 2nd cars for my wife so I could drive those. I am the only driver for this Corolla and it drives great - unfortunately! I keep looking at other cars that I want to buy but wont until this one dies. Never a problem - 1.8l, 5spd can race from a stop light with best of cars!

We have driven this car for three years with zero problems. The gas mileage is great 30-35 mpg around town. Couldnt ask for a beter car in its class.

Reliable, relatively attractive, awesome gas mileage for a peppy engine.
