Overview & Reviews
Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.
Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

Reliable - 2002 Toyota Corolla
By Laroco - December 7 - 10:00 amVery reliable, very good in gas mileage, very small gas tank capacity. You have to fill the gas tank just a little over 200 miles drive. I can drive my Camry to over 400 miles before fill-up. Engine performance is very weak. This car is not for racing, its for daily commute.

2005 Corolla good value - 2005 Toyota Corolla
By rws1 - December 6 - 12:47 pmOn a recent 800 mile trip I got 36 miles to the gallon. This is driving 70 -75 miles an hour. The check engine light came on during this trip. Code P0456 was the obd code and after looking it up found that Toyota has a technial bullentin for this issue and is related to the upgraded ECM module that was done on the car. Has to be upgraded again apparently. Going to take to dealer this week. The car has plenty of power and considering the gas mileage it gets I cant complain at all. There is some wind noise but nothing bothersome. The original tires were noisy but new tires at 50k fixed that problem. Plenty of room in the trunk and back seats.

Better then the Elantra - 2013 Toyota Corolla
By lysandra25 - December 6 - 1:07 amIf this helps in anyway, i had a new 2012 elantra which needless to say sucked. Yea all it has on this car is probably fuel economy and modern interior, but corolla hands down beats the elantra bc of the QUALITY. Toyotas are way more dependable and this car is sturdy and i love it. My old car for a brand new car actually had loose wire issues so i brought it to the dealer 4 times for numerous issues. ( getting stuck in park/ drive). Suspension sucks as well, car slips alot. Can barely go over 60 on the highway over few bumps with out noticing slips . So to me corolla s is AWESOME! No slips..great suspension, very comfortable to me and i dont have to worry which is the best peace of mind :)

An Old Reliable Friend - 1997 Toyota Corolla
By Tom - December 5 - 6:23 amI bought my 1997 Corolla back in 2005 with under 60,000 miles. Today it has over 266,000 miles. The car has been a stalwart companion over the last 10+ years. Up until 2 years ago the only maintenance items were changing the brakes, battery and tires. I will say the A/C broke a few years into the purchase, and I never got it fixed, but you get used to that. Over the last few years had to put an alternator, serpentine belt, spark plug wires and starter; but considering the first 180,000 miles of ownership went so smooth, I guess it is to be expected. I would recommend this car to anyone who is looking for something simple, no nonsense and needs a reliable ride.

A great car for the money - 2005 Toyota Corolla
By wmfortney - December 3 - 10:00 amI already have a 2003 Honda Civic EX and in my opinion the Corolla LE is a slightly better car. The Corolla is less noisy with a much smoother ride than the "sporty" ride of the Civic. There has more trunk space, head room and driver visibilty. Before you buy, test drive both.

Its OK - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By 2 hour/day commute - December 3 - 12:06 amI commute 2 hours per day. The car does well in snow, especially considering how light weight it is. The only reason I am considering trading it is that with 50,000 miles, I can still get payoff for a trade in. You cant say that about many cars these days.

Pleasantly Surprised - 2010 Toyota Corolla
By cf - December 2 - 12:56 amThis is my second corolla and it is a solid car. Great mpg and more comfortable than I expected! The 1.8 is as good as it gets for an economy car and the sport look is outstanding. Got the package discount and what a difference that makes! The ride is steady and sure and the feel is vague at highway speed but that will take getting used to. Cheap plastic but this car stickered for the same as my 99 corolla with more features!

Not Bad - Not Great - 2010 Toyota Corolla
By bob250 - December 1 - 1:43 amI purchased the 2010 Corolla S after driving an 07 Civic for a couple of years. While it is not a bad car, I do wish I had bought another Civic. I am not getting as good of gas mileage plus all the recalls etc. The steering is a problem for me especially on windy days.

Great car! - 2008 Toyota Corolla
By Christine - November 30 - 5:56 pmMy last 9 cars have all been $35+ luxury cars. When my last 2002 Odyssey bit the dust (after 220,000 miles) I decided to buy a car that would pay for itself because of improved gas mileage. After test driving a Civic, I realized I needed something with more interior space and focused on the Corolla instead. I found a great deal on a used 2009 LE, and have enjoyed it ever since. Very spacious inside (important, as I am tall as are my 4 sons) and great gas mileage. I do consistently about 38 miles per gallon on average and as such the car pays for itself (compared to my Honda). I only wish there was a remote trunk release and a horn beep when you remote lock the doors. Overall, rate it A+.
