Model Overview:

Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.

Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

One of the worst cars I have purchased. This car rattles all time on the inside. This 2009 Toyota corolla has already had a radio replaced and still continues to have issues with it.

I traded in my 97 sentra for the 03 Corolla, I am very happy that I did. I went test driving the civics and almost bought one. I decided to stop by the toyota dealership before buying the civic, I am glad I did. The corolla has a lot more room than the 02 civic ex. I bought the le corolla, it has been great. I cant wait until the break in period is over so I can drive past 55!

  • Good car but.... - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I have had this car since July 2005. It is a great little car with a few flaws. Living in NYC, I have to say the gas mileage is great (anywhere from 25-29mpg in traffic, 32+hwy), it is easy to park, and generally fun to drive. I have some minor complaints with the tin- like metal used to cover the car at the top. This car is prone to dinks and dents from minor contact. And a driver really has to "drive" this car in foul weather. But for a compact, this car is stylish and sporty looking with excellent features.

Bought it 4 years ago. It is so reliable and gives you the best gas mileage ever. 38 mpg on the highway and it is comfortable to drive

  • Corolla is number 1 - 2008 Toyota Corolla

Ive had this car for 6 months now and think its a joy. Smooth ride, great gas mileage (averaging combination city and highway about 35) and awesome looks. Ive heard the Camry is having a lot of quality control issues lately but the Corolla (at least this bodystyle) has been bulletproof. As for the engine...yes its a 1.8 4cylinder but I installed a k&N air filter and it greatly increased the power. I think the acceleration is fine and you almost forget youre in a 4. If you want anything faster, get a 3.5 V6 in the Camry! The 1.8 is a great combination of gas mileage and performance...for those that dont know its the same engine Toyota puts in the Celica GT (2000-2005).

  • A very noisy automobile. - 2004 Toyota Corolla

This is a nice looking vehicle and handles very nicely. There is some driveability problem when accelerating. My biggest complaint about the car is the tremendous amount of road noise and wind noise that we experience. The car is equipped with Michelin tires. The interior noise really gets to me at times where I just want to get rid of the car.I have heard complaints from other Corolla owners about the excessive road noise they also get in their cars.

  • Not the perfect design by far - 2004 Toyota Corolla

My biggest gripe is regarding Toyotas distribution system: using regional distributors is a thing of the past, they only add to the price of the car while actually lower customer satisfaction. Case in point: Southeast Toyota adds on all sorts of ridiculous accessories and equipment while not offering antilock brakes on ONE, you read it right, NOT ONE single Corolla sold in the Southeast, regardless of trim, transmission or color. Same goes for side airbags. My recommendation: check out the Elantra before you buy.

  • Great Car! - 2009 Toyota Corolla

We have just had our Corolla for three week but my wife and I really like the car. We just returned from out first road trip and averaged 38 mpg! Our first tank of gas with city driving got 29 mpg. The car is very quiet, handles great and is fun to drive. We were looking for a balance of safety, fuel efficiency and reliability. We tested the Civic, Mazda 3, Hyundai Elantra, and a number of midsized cars. We also liked the Honda Civic but being 63" I felt I had more room in the Corolla. Yes, the electronic steering is a tad sensitive but we got use to it very quickly. With over 30 million Corollas sold world wide, it is now the best selling car in the world.
