Model Overview:

Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.

Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

  • Pass this one by even if you are short! - 2009 Toyota Corolla

I bought this car for my business. I am over 6Â’ tall and it was a big mistake. After 20 or so miles it gets very uncomfortable for someone tall. It hurt my back so bad I traded it in after only 200 miles! Before you think that a short person would find this vehicle acceptable, please pay careful attention to the steering issue. You cannot hold a straight line especially on the freeway. This is clearly a design defect that needs to be fixed. Strongly suggest you check out Mazda or VW for a small car.

I have had this vehicle for over five years and havent had one problem with it. It is snappy off the line and gets great gas mileage (32-34 mpg around town and 36-38 mpg on the highway). I would recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a safe, reliable car with good gas mileage.

I owned a 2011 Mazda 3, and my husband leased a 2010 4 door Yaris Sedan. We traded in the Yaris for a new lease on a Corolla. My husband now drives the 3 because its financed and not leased as he puts a ton of miles on, and because my work commute is shorter I got the Corolla. My model has a moon roof, wood trimmed interior, heated seats, and other bells & whistles. Everyone says how much better the 3 performs, but I disagree, its only a slight difference. I LOVED my 3, but I also love my Corolla. I also find the two tone beige interior of the Corolla to be nicer than the all black interior of the 3. The Corolla is a classy ride - mini Camry! The Yaris was a lousy car. Drove like a tin can

  • Realiable, boring, and cant handle. - 2001 Toyota Corolla

bought my corolla used in 2011. It had only 42k because a grandma used to own it. The gas mileage was amazing, and the acceleration was alright. The brakes didnt react well and locked up easily. I crashed because the car was too light, causing it loose control on a small swerve at about 55 mph. It hit a wall and flipped upside down. Both airbags deployed and the seat belt held on to me well. I had only scratches from glass and minor back trauma. It saved my life but it may have caused the accident as well.

  • I like my Corolla. - 2005 Toyota Corolla

This car does just what I bought it for. It gets good mileage and is quite comfortable. I get 41 miles to the gallon. It is a stick shift. The only thing I would like is to have it somewhat heavier. It gets taken away in strong wind. I would buy it again gladly.

Less than 1000 miles since purchase. So far very happy. First compact ever purchased but was out of necessity (economy). Will report again in 6-9 months. Always had mid size vehicles so this is an adjustment that on first report seems to have been a good move. Anxious to take a long trip to get the real feel of the car and more accurate idea of true gas mileage. Like the reported reputation of Toyota vehicles. See ya in 6-9 months. Ratings given above are based on only having vehicle for one month. Liked the style compared to all considered. Really went to purchase the Corolla LE. However when I saw the S model I quickly made the mental financial adjustment to a much better looking vehicle. My wife wasnt too happy but reluctantly allowed me to go for it!

  • Couldnt Get Used to It! - 2004 Toyota Corolla

After having had a smaller SUV I thought I would enjoy a compact car. I love how the Corolla S looks, but inside I feel totally unsafe, too low to the ground and I cannot see out properly. This car has blind spots, and on the California freeways I feel very vulnerable. Driving is no longer a pleasure. It is scary! This car is fine for local around-the-town errands, but I could not imagine taking it on a long trip. Gas mileage is TERRIBLE! I expected about 32 - 35 MPG but I am lucky if I get 25 - 27 MPG. My small SUV did as well as that! I am going to sell this car and go back to a smaller SUV in which I have a better field of vision and do not feel so unsafe and vulnerable.

  • The Civic has met (&lost to ) its match - 2003 Toyota Corolla

Praise... Toyota has finally brought a design engineer to the table for their lower priced vehicles; should also add a bit of spunk as well(did I hear Paseo?). Not sure why it took 30 odd years (240zx, 280zx, CRX, Civic, RX7, etc)but the compitition will be weeping

A great car. I call it my golf cart for the interstate. Gets great gas mileage, roomy interior and trunk. Great sound system. My 15 year old thinks it is the bomb with speedway blue metallic color and the exterior moldings. I think I may not be driving this car when she turns 16. Oh well, Ill just buy another one.
