Overview & Reviews
Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.
Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

Excellent ride - 2003 Toyota Corolla
By 44racing - February 6 - 11:56 pmCar seems to handle great, and rides smooth for a small car. Has a fast 4 cylinder motor with enough torque and horsepower to get up to speed in heavy traffic. A great buy for the long commuter or college student who needs a dependable cost efficient ride.

Unhappy toyota owner - 2007 Toyota Corolla
By unhappy toyota owner - February 6 - 8:46 amI am very unhappy with the quality of my 2007 Corolla. I bought the car new from the dealer. I had to have the car towed and the engine computer replaced by the dealer, which apparently is a fairly common problem. In addition, the automatic transmission still shifts very roughly, but the dealer insists that the transmission is fine when it obviously isnt fine. I purchased an extended warranty since I expect the transmission to fail any day. The suspension is rough and I can feel every bump on the road.

05 Corolla - 2005 Toyota Corolla
By Mike - February 5 - 1:00 pmMy wife and I bought this car new!! Being that I was a Ford owner I bought the Corolla with a 200k/6yr powertrain warranty! In 195000 kms warranty covered ECM, Fuel Punp, Wheel Bearing and Timing chain seal!! The pump and ECM failure is odd but not totally unheard of, but compared to the 97 Ford Taurus, the toyota quality is unsurpassed! I too have a strange whistling sound from windscreen at higher speeds! Oh ya...door seal were replaced after on yr!! One cam loose so dealer changed them all!!! Great dealer service!!!

10 year old car - Still a gem!! - 2007 Toyota Corolla
By Flow - February 4 - 5:36 pmI bought my Toyota Corolla S 2007 in fall of 2006, and named her Libby. Truth be told, I have had prettier (aesthetically pleasing) cars, but no car has ever matched her reliability. She is now 216,000 miles old and still keeps on keeping on. When I got her, I was single and now 7 years later, we have a 7 year old daughter, 2 big dogs and Libby. My husbands truck is in the shop, and Libby has been our single vehicle off/on since 2008. In 2012-current, Ive had a relatively long commute for my job, upwards of 45-60 min one way, so both ways everyday - Lots of driving. Libby is a true workhorse, and we ensure she is has regular maintenance (full synthetic oil changes, etc.). Shes never, knock on wood, had any major repair. Right now she needs new shocks/struts (front/back) because weve lived in some very rural areas with lots of pot holes, dips and rough terrain. Im on this website right now because were searching for a bigger family vehicle, and will likely give Libby to a family friend while she job searches. I want to say the Toyota Corolla S is outstanding value, reliability and performance. It is not made for fast rides and showing off, but for a solid smaller sedan that excels in endurance and good quality!

Good small car - 2005 Toyota Corolla
By SJN - February 3 - 5:43 amI bought this car w/10k mi. Likes: Fuel economy, 38 mpg (70% hwy). Comfortable seats, roomy interior, good trunk room with fold down rear seat back feature, good acceleration & power w/5 speed manual trans, & good ride on most roads. Dislikes: OEM Gdyr Integrity tires were worn out at 20,000 mi. Replaced with Gdyr Triple-Treds. These seem to be wearing much better but are noisier. Road noise is annoying, especially over coarse pavement. Wind and engine noise are also very noticeable at highway speeds. The radio sound distorts at higher volume (cheap speakers) and is nearly useless at highway speeds when competing with the road noise. The CD player sometimes skips when I hit a bounce.

First and Last Toyota - 2012 Toyota Corolla
By n_hastings - February 1 - 6:24 amWe have owned our 2012 Toyota for about 4 months and it has 50k miles on it. The rear speakers are blown out; the windshield exploded from the inside without any impact and the dealership is refusing to reimburse us for a new windshield; when you turn the temperature control to "0," the fan never completely stops blowing air; something on the passenger side clunks when you hit your breaks and turn left; the windshield wipers were not properly designed to fit the windshield, therefore you can never see out the windshield; the windshield fogs up EXTREMELY BAD and because the windshield wipers dont touch the window, you literally cannot see anything until after the morning fog has lifted.

Just what I needed - 2013 Toyota Corolla
By cwbarrett - January 31 - 3:42 amI just leased a 2013 S mainly for my son. He loves the car. Sunroof. Rides well. Quiet. Enough power with the manual. Hes 64" and fits fine. Edmunds recommends considering other cars but the ones they recommend dont inspire confidence. The difference between the editors and me is that they get to give theirs back after 2 weeks. I noticed the negative user comments on the Corolla are around style and a little under powered. I noticed the negative comments on the suggested alternatives are mechanical, like transmissions grinding and steering columns shaking. I guess Id rather have a "disconnected driving experience" than a disconnnected wallet experience.

Great Car - 2003 Toyota Corolla
By Pete Novack - January 29 - 2:00 amTraded my 99 Dodge Avenger in for the 03 Corolla, great decision. It may only be 130 hp but with the 5 speed you can make the best of it. ABS would be nice but the standard brakes are good. Ive practiced panic stops of 50 mph and there is no lock up. plus you got to love 30+ mpg!
