Model Overview:

Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.

Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

I bought our 05 CE certified used as a second commuter vehicle...during high gas prices. The gas mileage, build quality, and appearance are all excellent. Top mileage in gentle conditions (mostly highway, around 60 mph) we get 36 mpg. Average close to 400 miles per tank. I like the simple dash layout and open feel of the cabin. I am less happy with the ride quality. Pronounced road noise and jittery ride at highway speeds. On the highway it also feels light and gets pushed around my passing trucks or high winds. Know this is because it has a smaller wheel base and light frame for gas mileage. Considering trading up to Camry or Lexus. Need a better ride as a is suffer vertigo.

I was a Honda fan for the last 10 years, this is my first Toyota and I am excited with the performance in this car The XRS attracted me from the very first time that I saw on TV, especially the new DOHC engine with 170 hp, Honda never offered nothing like this and with any of the cars that I had, the closest one now is Honda the civic Si, which I already made him eat my dust, when I recently encountered one here on the highway. What else can I say!!!

  • Best Purchase of My Life! - 2008 Toyota Corolla
    By -

This car has been a dream. Reliable, great price and great looking. This car I think is fun to drive. I opted towards the side curtain air bags, ABS (Winter Weather Package) and sunroof. Great gas mileage rides smooth and the engine is quiet. I like the S model because it looks sporty but are not paying the price of the sporty cars. Be careful not to bottom out going in and out of driveways and parking lots!

  • 251,000 Miles and still going! - 1994 Toyota Corolla

I bought my 4th Toyota in 1996 and still have it today! It has 251,000 miles and still looks good! Burns some oil about 1 quart per 700 miles. You can check the body out too, no rust! I live in Michigan and you know the winters here!

  • 2003 Corolla LE; NEEDS WORK. - 2003 Toyota Corolla

Vehicle developed a noise in the front end after 2 months of ownership. Suspension creaks when passengers enter/exit the vehicle. Hydraulic brake moan is extremely loud when stopped at intersections. Front end sounds like its going to fall out. For the next 4 weeks the dealership made various attempts to get the noise out to no avail. Traded the car off after 4 months of ownership for a Honda.

  • Fantastic! - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I wasnt looking for anything flashy - just a reliable, efficient, decent- looking car. Ive always been pleased with Toyotas, but this one is by far the best Ive owned. Ive driven my Corolla from Texas to Manitoba to New York and loved every mile of it. No mechanical problems whatsoever. My gas mileage has averaged 33-36 city any 39- 42 highway. (I even got 46 mpg from one tank - highway driving across Kansas.) This car gives a really smooth ride and is a good value for the price. The heat and A/C really crank. I spent summer in TX & winter in NY and was always comfortable. Several friends of mine laughed at me for buying a Toyota until they rode in it and wished they had one of their own.

  • Exactly what I was looking for! - 2003 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I set out looking for a new car that had four doors, looked sporty, was great to drive, was going to be reliable, economical, and affordable. After driving a couple of the other contenders I finally arrived to test drive the Corrolla S. What a drive! Toyota made a really great car here. I feel like Im driving a car that I should have paid a lot more for.

The Corolla is the ultimate ride in its class. Its 1.8L engine can get you where you need to be at a surprising rate. It may not a Corvette Z06, but it certainly is ready for ANY task you can give it. Its reliability makes it much better than a girlfriend and its quality both inside and out help surpass it beyond Hondas cheesey interior and whiney engine sounds.

  • Getting My Moneys Worth - 03 Corolla CE - 2003 Toyota Corolla
    By -

Ive had the car for a month, put about 1,500 miles on it, and getting 38 mpg. The 5 speed is peppy with good acceleration when needed. Rides smooth at all speeds and handles decently in the snow for a car its size. Interior heating is quick, and AC seems to work well without sacrificing engine performance. Adequate leg/foot room for average adult in rear seat. This is obviously a well thought out car, and a great value considering Toyota reliability. I chose the CE over the LE - the extra "features" on the LE seem insignificant with no real added performance or value for the money.
