Overview & Reviews
The 2000 Toyota Camry sedan receives minor updates. The exterior benefits from new front and rear styling. Camry LE models get 15-inch tires with new wheel covers while the XLE gets standard 16-inch tires. Four-cylinder models make three more horsepower than last year. Interior upgrades include an available JBL premium audio system, automatic climate control, larger buttons on the audio faceplate, imitation wood trim on XLE models, optional leather seats with driver-side power on LE models and new LE model seat fabric. The hood is now supported with struts and dampers.
- Toyota reliability, updated looks, optional V6 power.
- Luxury options quickly jack up price, uncomfortable seats.

Great Car - 2000 Toyota Camry
By Lord H - July 4 - 10:00 amLove the car! My only gripe is that the dealership can not seem to balance the tires, I get a shimmy at 65mph+. I think the OEM Dunlops are at the end of their useful life and need to be replaced at the dealers expense. Other than that, plenty of comfort and not much road noise.

2000 Camry love it - 2000 Toyota Camry
By David Carrier - June 17 - 11:30 amLove my 2000 Camry. You raise the hood to check the fluids, you close the hood... because it needs nothing but usual oil changes, etc. Although i have had to put on brakes on him a couple of times (70k miles). Thats the only thing, really are the brakes. Other then that ... love that car. Got my dad away from Cadillac after he saw the way my Camry wasnt in the shop!! dave

The Best Vehicle Weve Ever Owned - 2000 Toyota Camry
By Nick - June 10 - 12:26 pmMy grandfather purchased our 2000 Toyota Camry XLE V6 brand new in fall 1999 fully loaded with all the options and accessories: with only one option lacking: fog lights. I am happy to say no one has suffered as a result. It was effectively a Lexus ES. The 3.0L V6 engine in this car makes it the most responsive car I have ever driven. When I need to pass someone on the highway, its a snap. I cant imagine having anything less under the hood. Yet its so quiet at idle that I can barely hear it. This car can barrel down the highway at 80 miles per hour as smooth as silk. I will drive this car forever, or until it dies, which doesnt seem possible anytime soon. Its 100% reliable.

True Toyota Reliabilty - 2000 Toyota Camry
By Jared Olson - March 23 - 1:33 amI purchased this car in 2008 with 155k miles. This car was properly maintained and because of that, it was in practically new condition when I bought it. The only thing that had to be replaced in its lifetime was the water pump, which almost any car needs replaced at that age. It also had new wheels and brake pads. I test drove a newer Mitsubishi for the same price. Compared to the Camry, the Mitsubishi felt like a golf cart. The build quality of a Toyota is like non other, except for Lexus (but theyre made by Toyota anyway). If properly maintained, this car could easily last 300,000 or more miles.

Outstanding car - 2000 Toyota Camry
By dewey - October 21 - 2:20 pmBought car new, just put first set of brakes at 75000 miles. Put an oxygen sensor in at 72000. No other repairs as yet, just normal service intervals and one set of tires, uses no oil. Well run it forever. Ive owned 8 Toyotas and this is one of the best manufactured; also have now a 2006 Avalon.

Solid, Reliable Car - 2000 Toyota Camry
By Brandon - August 25 - 7:03 pmThis is an overall great car. Never any problems, only routine maintenance. I drive hard and it still responds like it did 70k miles ago. It may not be the most exciting car in the world, but you dont have to worry about taking it for repairs all the time or paying a ridiculous amount for gas. Its nice to have a paid off car that it still somewhat modern looking and you know youll be able to drive for another 100k+!

Best generation of Camry, in my opinion - 2000 Toyota Camry
By loneranger07 - May 13 - 3:47 amAlways liked this generation the most, later they declined in build quality and too many electronic refinements: drive-by-wire throttle, automatic climate control. Also they stopped offering V6 with stick. Mine has leather, alloy wheels, sunroof. Bought used in 2009 with 64,000 miles for around $7500, probably could have negotiated dealer down but really wanted this car because of rarity. And besides regular maintenance and some worn out parts: suspension springs, clutch, and evap. charcoal canister, have had no unexpected issues. Engine is one of the best Toyota has ever made, great compromise between power and fuel economy. We have 123,000 now, happy that we bought it. K&N air filter too
