Overview & Reviews
Entering its second generation, the 2000 Avalon is roomier, more powerful and more technically advanced. The Kentucky-built Avalon features new styling inside and out, enhanced safety features, increased engine performance, and more comfort and convenience than its predecessor.
- Lexus-like quality, smooth V6 engine, huge rear seat.
- High price tag, new styling might not go far enough to avoid blandness.

Becoming more and more disappointed - 2000 Toyota Avalon
By BFP - January 11 - 10:00 amThis car has truly been a disapointment. Though roomy, the ventilation system is terrible - cant keep both the front and backseat passengers comfortable at the same time. Dash board electric panel goes out from time to time - the dealer cant seem to fix it. A truly overrated and overpriced vehicle - cant wait to dump it!!

Japanese Buick is a nice thing to say - 2000 Toyota Avalon
By RubaDub - January 4 - 2:00 amIf only the bumpers were less prone to get nicked and scratched this might be THE perfect car. In some 37,000 miles, NO waranty trips to the dealer, original brakes and tires still pass State inspection. Nicwe acceleration, smoooooth mechanicals. Up to 32mpg on a road trip, decentr mileage around town. So quiet inside you can hold conversation in normal tone of voice at 80 MPH.

Great car. - 2000 Toyota Avalon
By Mitzie - November 26 - 10:36 amI bought the car new and most of the time I am the only driver. I put new tires on this past winter. The car is clean. Except for regular maintenance I have had very little trouble with this car. I replaced the water pump a few years ago and the brakes.

They dont make them like this anymore. - 2000 Toyota Avalon
By ncguy33 - November 12 - 1:06 amBought this car used with 126000 miles on it. Now a few miles from 200000, I havnt had to do anything but oil changes to it. These 2000-2004 model Avalons are the last of the great Toyotas. The newer Toyotas quality cannot compare. Theres no better used sedan out there, bar none.. from the comfort and the gas mileage to the realiability.

Theyre right! I love it! - 2000 Toyota Avalon
By Bevo - July 1 - 10:00 amI wanted a used car and, after much searching, liked the looks of the Toyota Avalon best. But I didnt know anything about its performance. So I looked it up on Edmunds. All I saw was how everyone "loved their 2000 Avalons." That sold me. Now Ive joined the group. Its been 3 months, and every day I tell my husband how much I love my Avalon. Even my 21- year-old car-nut of a son likes it. The problems that a few people complained about dont even exist with mine. I bought the extended warranty, and have no worries about anything going wrong. Its a dream to drive and anyone who rides with me comments on what a great car it is.

Solid car - 2000 Toyota Avalon
By jmacgregor87 - May 13 - 4:50 pmI live in the NW and this is my girlfriends car. She has owned it since day 1 of its life and takes good care of it. Miles; 126K Pros; Dirves great, good gas milage, stars every time, dependable, and is comfortable for long hauls. Cons; In the last 2 years things have started to break/fail. She has replaced the key ignition twice for 2 different reasons. Some rattles have started to show up, it is 10 years old. The sub-woffer has a short, we found out its in the stereo it self.
