This Year's Model Updates:

For 2011, the Toyota Avalon receives new front- and rear-end styling, a new dash and more standard features. Furthermore, trim levels have been reduced to the base Avalon (which is similar to the outgoing XLS trim) and the Avalon Limited.

Pros:
  • Seats five adults in comfort, attractive cabin design with high-quality materials, composed and quiet ride, powerful and efficient V6, available upscale amenities, strong crash test scores.
Cons:
  • A bit expensive for its class, refined nature leaves little room for flair or personality, rear seats do not fold.

  • Most comfortable car - 2011 Toyota Avalon

This is the most comfortable car I have driven in 48 years of driving. Very roomy interior; feels like a luxury car. I road tested the BMW, Infinity, Lexus, and Acura. Avalon beats them hands down in every respect. Unless you want to pretend youre an Indy driver, this car has the best road feel. I recommend you test drive this car before making a purchase on another similar vehicle.

This car drives well. It has a tight turning circle for a large car, smaller than the turning circle in my Volvo s60 (which was surprising). The trunk is slightly smaller than the 06 Limited I traded in. It uses regular gas and the maintenance is minimal. Since it is black, it looks great when washed and waxed. The interior is quiet, even when it is windy outside. Gas mileage is impressive, especially for a car this size. This is my second Avalon and it took some time for me to adjust to driving it. Take it easy; its a car to be driven smoothly. It has great get up and go when on the highway, passing and changing lanes. It takes a lot of composure to drive it. I am constantly tempted to drive faster, etc. But, if I wanted speed for speeds sake, I would drive my s60, which has a beauty all its own. This car takes you by surprise, urging you to want to take more road trips, which I plan to do. Go for a test drive and you might want to get one too. I purchased an extended warranty, since I plan on many road trips, where almost anything can happen. I also bought an after-market GPS to help find " things".

I bought a 11 Limited after looking at pre-owned 09 & 10. The car just oozes quality. Unbelievable power from a V6 in a large car, especially given the outstanding gas mileage. I get 26- 29 mpg. Nice styling changes to the front & rear ends as well as the dashboard. NAV has been improved & has a backup camera, too. Several optional items are now standard. In reality the price for the Limited has gone down! Before you buy a competitor, drive the Avalon. Dollar for dollar you can not beat it!

This car is a terrific full size sedan, roomy and comfortable with all the amenities I need. But the drivers seat is too firm for my taste and could use more padding. Visibility is poor toward the rear and side. Handling is fine; those who say it handles like a 60s luxo barge dont know what theyre talking about. Ive owned many large sedans in the 50s - 70s and none approaches the handling of this Avalon. The HID headlamps illuminate my whole field of vision and at night the bright clarity makes me feel like Im in a space ship. The MPG dashboard display is an unnecessary distracting toy. A glaring mistake is the absence of a sun visor extension. Interior fit/finish is top notch
