This Year's Model Updates:

Entering its second generation, the 2000 Avalon is roomier, more powerful and more technically advanced. The Kentucky-built Avalon features new styling inside and out, enhanced safety features, increased engine performance, and more comfort and convenience than its predecessor.

Pros:
  • Lexus-like quality, smooth V6 engine, huge rear seat.
Cons:
  • High price tag, new styling might not go far enough to avoid blandness.

  • Better than I hoped - 2000 Toyota Avalon
    By -

The Avalon glids effortless over a variety of sufaces like a car that cost much more. Smooth engine, good fuel economy, quiet interior allowing conversations at 75 mph without having to yell. No hoarseness after long trips from having to talk too loud. Good sound system and plenty of room for four grown people. Smooth transmission. Its a Lexus in Toyota clothing.

  • Comfortable and Reliable - 2000 Toyota Avalon

Never had a problem since I bought the car in 2000. Very comfortable and quiet. Good acceleration and mediocre brakes. Less than satisfactory gas mileage in city driving. Car rattles unlike near luxury car when driving over uneven surface. Suspension could be a little stiffer. Sound system could be a little better.

I have had this car for 4 years, and have zero problems. It is quiet, comfy, and a great ride. The design of every little feature makes so much sense. This was my first car that wasnt a GM. I will buy another Avalon after this one. I couldnt be more pleased. I now understand why Toyota is doing so well. Im sold!!

  • Toyota & Lexus are the only cars... - 2000 Toyota Avalon

For those that doesnt know: Toyota Avalon 2000 has THE SAME ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION AS LEXUS ES 300 Its sooo quiet... Its very comfortable ROOOOOOMY !!!and very depandable I have only one electrical problem: Side airbag sensor mulfunction, I guess its because is not made in Japan but in USA and Quality Control in States is not as tight as it is in Tokyo The SRS light start and keep blinking and I let my Toyota Dealer work on that. Other than that car is really great it really is a pleasure drive handles great on the road, well maybe brakes and audio system (XL-ONLY) could be better... Highly recommend to everyone !!!

  • I LOVE THIS CAR! - 2000 Toyota Avalon
    By -

I have had this car for about 5 months now, absolutely love it! Fun to drive, reliable, I step on the gas and the pickup is great, comfortable leather seats, just a joy to drive! I thought I would like the heated seats better than I do, but I dont see what the big deal is really. I drive my car all over the state for my job and it performs flawlessly, unmatched Toyota quality. Mine had around 98k when I bought it but you could tell it had been taken care of. My speaker system is a bit flakey, the rear speaker is blown and two of the front speakers go in and out a lot, other than the speakers the car is great. Buy one and you wont regret it! Mpg is around 29-30 hwy and around 21 or so city.

  • 200,000+ miles and still going strong - 2000 Toyota Avalon
    By -

This car has been in my family since its original purchase in 2000. The car was passed onto me in 2008 with 150,000 miles on it. It still drives like the day it was purchased. The interior cabin is dead quiet and the ride is incredibly smooth. It is fantastic for road trips, it gets about 30 mpg on the highway using regular fuel. It accelerates well for a car of its size. It handles well in snow, as long as you drive accordingly. It is incredibly reliable, it starts up right away every morning (even when it is 5 degrees outside). Also, the sound system is fantastic.

  • Love my Avalon - 2000 Toyota Avalon

This is my first experience with a "non- American car and I couldnt be happier. I love to drive this car. I feel safe and very comfortable. I love how it looks and handles. My husband liked my car so well that in 2001 he bought himself a Toyota Tundra which he also is very happy with. I have 31,000 miles on my car and 0 problems. Again, great CAR!

  • Not the best choice - 2000 Toyota Avalon
    By -

Over the years the car has not done well, time to sell - the VSC is OFF, light on dash - will cost $600 to fix a $600 option, the gas gauge stops at 1/4 tank. 8 years of below average, constantly small items - trouble w/ stereo, woofer blew out, squeaks, had interoir parts replaced. In 2nd year of ownership, the leather peeled off steering wheel. That was replaced under warranty. Hopefully they got better, disappointed overall.

  • Toyota Avalon A good car - 2000 Toyota Avalon
    By -

I bought my Avalon in 2000 with 8,000 miles on it. I was impressed by the smooth ride and the comfort of this vehicle. Two tall adult 6 fit in the back seat comfortably and three adults can fit in the back seat with no problem. I had to have my brakes replaced several times. Overall if given the choice I would buy the avalon again. I have taken several trips and the smooth comfortable ride makes the avalon a good choice. Would I would buy another avalon in the next few years? Definitely if the brakes were better. If the brakes are not better I may make a different choice.
