This Year's Model Updates:

Last year's limited-production Legacy spec.B sedan returns to the 2007 Subaru Legacy lineup as a regular production model. For this year's version, Subaru has fitted it with an exclusive six-speed manual transmission (last year's had a five-speed) and a new limited-slip rear differential. In addition, a new turbocharger and various other engine upgrades in spec.B and GT Limited models allow them to meet LEV 2 emissions standards, and the peak horsepower rating is revised to 243. The turbo Legacys also pick up an SI-Drive feature that allows the driver to adjust engine responsiveness, a tire-pressure monitor and new instrumentation. All 2007 Legacys come with an MP3/WMA-capable CD audio system, as well as an input jack for MP3 players. (Higher-line models have SRS WOW technology, which is said to improve the sound quality of compressed-format music.) Rounding out the changes are new seat fabrics, a folding rear seat in all sedans, a revised five-speed manual transmission and the optional availability of XM satellite radio.

Pros:
  • Sharp interior design with high-quality materials, thrilling turbo engine, standard all-wheel drive, sharp handling, comfortable highway ride, outstanding crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Smallish backseat, limited availability of stability control and navigation, GT Limited with options can be pricey.

  • I will miss my Subaru - 2007 Subaru Legacy

We leased this car after our previous Legacy was 11 years old. There was no doubt about the replacement. Wifes only requirement was color (Diamond Gray Metallic), and it had to have a spoiler. There was no doubt about getting another Legacy, and this car exceeded our expectations. Great handling, just enough power to be fun, manual shift mode, in-dash 6CD player... This car was great, but with a growing family it is just not big enough. Trading up to a Toyota Sienna AWD. I will miss owning such a reliable, low-maintenance car.

This car has been awesome. Great power, excellent handling. The Si Drive is super fun. The low ground clearance is no problem in snow. With Dunlop SP Wintersport M3s the wagon will power through 2 feet of snow. A great vehicle.

Know that this review, like all others, is very partial. The fact I bought a Subie implies I probably identify myself with it to a degree, and means Im highly unlikely to highlight its faults. Body roll/pitch is barely noticeable; engine runs smooth and beautifully; drives great in heavy rainy weather; beautifully designed with superb finish inside and out; perhaps the best safety package out there; great details such as mp3 player jack, sunroof, 17 in. alloys; That said heres the few faults I notice, all very minor: -faint high-pitch sound audible above 50mph, from AWD, -interior door handle cringing after a month of use, -center console smudges easily. Great insurance rates; I wouldnt reconsider!

  • Legacy hasnt disappointed - 2007 Subaru Legacy

Have owned this vehicle for almost three months and couldnt be happier. I have yet to drive in the snow, but overall handling is good. The interior has a nice sleek design with a nice sporty exterior. The most impressive aspect of this car is the smoothness on highways. After searching nearly six months for my newest purchase, I narrowed my search to the Legacy and Civic. I went with the Legacy because of price and AWD. In my two months, I have been extremely impressed with Subaru.

The Park Avenue I traded for this car reliably gave me 30+ mpg on the highway. Hated to give that up. Recently did my first long trip, NYC to Michigan and back. Kept up with traffic so above speed limit much of the trip and had fun doing it. Over 29 mpg round trip. Latest run to City and back, a 160 round trip on the expressway, got over 30 and was not taking it easy. Fuel economy is understated!
