Overview & Reviews
A mild face-lift, a sporty new "3.0 R Limited" trim level, a redesigned instrument panel, the cancellation of the wagon body style and the addition of a few new standard features (including tilt and telescopic steering wheel and an auxiliary audio jack) are the major changes for the 2008 Subaru Legacy line.
- Attractive cabin design with high-quality materials, strong performance in GT trims, standard all-wheel drive, athletic handling, comfortable highway ride, outstanding crash test scores.
- Smallish backseat and trunk, limited availability of stability control and navigation systems, upper trims can be pricey.

Subaru Legacy Spec B - 2008 Subaru Legacy
By sleepy58 - September 23 - 10:56 amExcellent AWD sport sedan. Very quick over a wide variety of road surfaces and conditions. Sport sharp mode in Si drive provides great throttle response. A stealth car that is great fun to drive.

Great family sedan!! - 2008 Subaru Legacy
By brianq727 - September 11 - 7:02 amWhat a wonderful car this Subaru is. I have a 2.5i with a sunroof and leather added. Nothing but reliable no problems up to 60K only oil changes and brakes. The interior is a bit small for a family if four so it must go but I would buy another if I had to. AWD is amazing in these Subarus and gives confidence in the rain (I live in Florida so we see a lot of it). Overall great car, highly recommend!

Reliable & Fun to Drive Car.... - 2008 Subaru Legacy
By Jay - September 4 - 6:43 amI bought my Subaru this April. Since I live in a place (SLC) that has long snow season, I wanted a car that is reliable & fun to drive. SUV was out of question due to gas prices. Subaru Legacy had everything I was looking for & I simply love this car. Just got back from our first long trip to Vegas and fuel economy was unbelievable. 32.7 MPG on freeway, even with AC on it was above 31.2 MPG. Handling was great. Comfort level while sitting for 6 hours was high. Theyre great cars. Love it!

Great all weather vehicle - 2008 Subaru Legacy
By afwx33 - August 24 - 6:30 amI drive 500 miles a week between Wyoming and Colorado and needed something that got good gas mileage and could handle the winter weather. On the highway I average 29-30 mpg which is a little above what the sticker suggests. The car is great in the snow and can make it through almost anything. The base motor is a little weak compared to the turbo motor but I bought this car for efficiency. I have 35,000 miles on the car and it has only been to the dealer for oil changes. Very reliable!

My Third Subaru - 2008 Subaru Legacy
By Jim Fisher - August 10 - 4:36 amWe currently own a 2004 Forester which my wife drives and loves. But the Forester is very noisy above 50 MPH. We bought a 2008 Legacy 2.5i Limited and I have driven it just under three hundred miles. The trip computer makes you very conscious of your gasoline consumption. I averaged 28.4 MPG on the first tankful. This was town and country mileage. The car is quiet and reassuringly rigid. Several people have complained about the sound system. Maybe I have tin ear but the system sounds just fine to me. As far as I am concerned, this is another outstanding car from Subaru.

2008 Subaru Legacy - 2008 Subaru Legacy
By wrx-man - June 30 - 3:56 amJust bought it... already have a 100 miles on it and I am very impressed. I have owned an Audi A6 2.7T, VW GTI and GLX, a Maxima 3.5L SE, and my other car is a 02 WRX. This car is one of the best I have driven especially for the price. If I wasnt looking at the Subaru badge, I would have sworn I was driving a BMW or an Audi (dashboard, leather seats, etc). This car is great on the highway and still firm enough to have fun on the twisty roads. I was averaging 28 mpg on the highway with a new engine with less than 100 miles. Germany should be afraid with the performance of the Legacy and the proven reliability of Subaru. I recommend a test drive of the GT, you will not be disappointed

no problems yet - 2008 Subaru Legacy
By mcc7 - May 18 - 5:14 pmBought the car in July 2008 and currently have 31K miles on it without any problems. The suspension is a great. It is nimble enough to handle well but not jarring on bumps. The front seats are very comfortable, even after a few hours in the car. The back seat is tight but still respectable. My only complaint is the radio is horrible but it can easily be replaced with an aftermarket one. With the rear seats folded down a lot can be transported, even long skis. Overall, it is a reliable and affordable car. This is my first Subaru and I would buy it again.

Overall Great car - 2008 Subaru Legacy
By Great Car - May 13 - 12:26 pmI love my car. Overall, I average 27 MPG on the highway, 23 in the city. Trunk space is great. The back row is spacious as well. I have made several long trips between school and home in the horible winter storms we had this year. The cars traction was outstanding. Its a fun car to drive and be in.

Best sedan in size and quality - 2008 Subaru Legacy
By Jake - May 1 - 9:03 amI bought a 2008 Legacy in mid 2007 and it has been hands down the best vehicle Ive owned. Its hard to find a high quality sedan thats not too large. The interior is quiet and materials are superior to others. The design is perfect - everything is proportional, unlike so many new sedans that look "different" to get attention. I always buy new cars and this is the first one to go the first 20k miles without even one tiny, minor little thing to look into. Its been fantastic and Ill definitely buy another.

Great commuter car - 2008 Subaru Legacy
By Elf72 - March 30 - 3:20 amThis is my second Subaru - I traded in my Forester when I moved 90 minutes from work as I wanted more creature comforts for the long commute. This car does not disappoint. Smooth ride, great gas mileage, and the Limiteds upgraded interior makes the trip comfortable as well. Plus, when winter hits, if the AWD works as well as it did in the Forester, Im all set.
