The Vue is an all-new sport-utility vehicle in Saturn's lineup, designed to compete on the lower end of the scale with models like the Ford Escape and Honda CR-V.

Pros:
  • Car-like handling, extensive choice of drivetrains, spacious cabin.
Cons:
  • Bland interior, noisy four-cylinder.

  • My experience & Opinion! - 2002 Saturn VUE

Do not purchase a 5speed manual... I was when shifting to 2nd gear from 1st, the clutch gave and made a loud pop sound. I was stuck @ the light, unable to move my VUE, so I had to Push it to a parking lot. The Saturn Mechanics adv. that a pin that holds a cable to allow gear shifting came out. It was put back into place, & I was adv that it would not happen again. I wanted to exchange my manual to an automatic (do not trust manual after incident) unfortunately no 4 cycle automatic VUES are out on the market @ this time. (TOO BAD) I returned my VUE. :-( I suggest people who purchase a VUE, get an automatic.

  • Thank God for the warranty!!! - 2002 Saturn VUE

By the time I take my Vue in for the oil change every 3000 miles,I find something wrong with it. The last time the sensor had to be replace. Before that, I had to get something replaced that had to do with the emission or oxygen which made my Vue shut off in the middle of driving. The tranmission has been giving me trouble. And now, theres a screeching sound when I turn it on every morning. I took it to the dealer and of course, when they turn it on the noise disappears. Also, some part has been recalled or something and the dealer never has the part that has to replace it in. Its very frustrating. I should have bought a Toyota! Thank God for the warranty!!

Overall this vehicle "rocks". I love the way it looks and handles. The V6 is plenty petty and the 16" alloy rims are to die for. The interior is nicely equipped, love storage spaces. This SUV had everything I was looking for.

  • So Far, So Good - 2002 Saturn VUE

The Saturn VUE with 4 cy., 5 speed is an excellent vehicle, looks great and makes you feel good driving it. Steering is sharp and precise and the suspension gives you good road feel with no shakes or pounding. Four cyl. has adequate power. Little slow in first and reverse, but good surge in second and third. Had not really planned on buying one, but saw it and when the salesman explained the special offer with options could not say no. Right at $17K loaded. Few minor distractions, but no big deal. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a small SUV. Best looking one out there.

Sharp vehicle. Sporty but more of a car than a truck, fun to drive. Very good value. Needs a leather wrapped steering wheel,I put one on. Really enjoying the sun roof and the upgraded CD/Casette stereo system. (not the 180 watt job). Getting 23.5 mpg in mixed driving with the ac on. Mine has the sideair bags and abs. I added the roof rack, looks much cooler, the stiff plastic flaps and the air deflector on the sun roof. 1800 miles and very pleased, engine a little noisy but this is an SUV for under 25K and not a lexus.

  • Pretty good, but... - 2002 Saturn VUE

Overall, I like this vehicle. Dont like the tinny noise on the tailgate door. Sounds really cheap! Front end components feel flimsy but the steering is good. I have engine noise that sounds like a diesel but not as loud. Dont like the fact that you have to remove the intake system to do a tune up. Cost about double what most other cars would. Really dislike the transmission. Jerky, shifts to much, and passing gear puts the rpm through the roof, even when you just ease the throttle when passing. The AWD makes a loud terrible noise when it engages, but I understand thbat this is common. I think most of my complaints are minor compared to the overall performance of this vehicle.

  • Disappointed - 2002 Saturn VUE

After owning a Grand Cherokee with over 200K (with no issues, we bought what we thought would be a great vehicle, but... We love the design and comfort. From the day we got it though, there have been a string of mechanical problems. From the service engine light on and off all of the time, to the transmission slipping. It cost nearly $1000 to replace the alternator b/c the part had to come from Saturn and the engine had to be moved just to get to it. Now it needs a wheel hub and a water pump. The suspension is very noisy as well. I wish GM had put the right drivetrain in it they would have had a winner!
