Overview & Reviews
Beloved by compact car enthusiasts, the Nissan Sentra SE-R returns after a seven-year hiatus. The Sentra SE is no longer available, though Nissan has created additional options packages for the GXE to make it similar to the SE.
- SULEV emissions status for CA model, 165-horsepower SE-R sport version, pleasing cabin design, fun to drive.
- Generic styling, GXE and SE-R models command premium price.

Enjoyable entry sporty sedan - 2002 Nissan Sentra
By bigb996 - February 23 - 1:16 amI purchased this car and right away started modding it. I put on all the bolt ons and really noticed a promising gain. The header itself gained 12whp and 11ft/tq. Torque is definatly not a problem in this car. The interior and exterior fit pretty well and you have 4drs+ a trunk for practicallity. They say the suspension is great however i have aftermarket and still am experiencing a lot of body roll. The performance is good but a little more hp couldnt hurt. I dont really see a need for a 6spd but its something different for a car like it at the price. Overall you get what you pay for.

Mini Muscle - 2002 Nissan Sentra
By sethy - February 7 - 10:00 amThis car is just flat out fun, and with many practical qualities such as 4 doors, great head/leg room it really is a great bargain. I have had the car for 12,000 miles now, and I have taken advantage of many of the aftermarket parts available. The list includes intake, header, exhaust, air/fuel computer, Tein SS suspension, and now Nismo front and rear sway bars. I believe the money I saved on initial purchase has allowed me to buy aftermarket goodies that have put the car in another class in power & handling. One note: I wish I had bought the Spec-V only for the Limited Slip Differential.

Enjoying the Ride - 2002 Nissan Sentra
By nx2kracer - December 26 - 9:36 pmWith 6000 miles on this car, I have nothing but praise for it. It is still a joy everytime I sit down in the supportive bucket seats, shift it into first and take off. Power is available no matter where you are in the power band and it has the handling to the match. The car was a joy to drive on the race track too, it ate up the 3.2 VIR track with grace and finesse. Screaming out of the corners! Buy one you will enjoy it!

Questionable Quality....MORE Performance - 2002 Nissan Sentra
By fcn90803 - December 17 - 2:00 amAutomatic, ABS & Side Airbags. Problems after 2 wks: rear fold-down seat locks missing; windows sticking; CD player skipped from day 1; map lights sticking. All minor but makes you wonder how well car has been designed/assembled. Took 3 days in a rental car and 2 trips to get all resolved; windows still stick. Tranny shifts out of 1st too early, can downshift roughly and slowly out of o/d and gets lost when youre on and off the gas. The plastic by the ignition and on door panels is scratched after 4000 miles. SE-R does handle great, gets decent gas mileage (22) and looks good but my ’91 Stanza with 138 hp and automatic would run circles around it. Disappointing. Shoulda looked at VW more.

Econosport = Cheap fun - 2002 Nissan Sentra
By intimidator - November 30 - 2:00 amA great car for the price - youll swear the engines not a 4 banger. Im 61", and the head room and leg room in the front are plenty roomy. This car loves mountain roads - the tires are nice, until you wear them out from spinning them on fast starts... The front end Skyline look is awesome, but the rear needs work, even with the decent spoiler. Tends to burn oil quickly...

Stunning reliability - 2002 Nissan Sentra
By Togoshiman - November 27 - 7:50 amPassed 150,000kms this week. Nothing has gone wrong with this car in nine years of continuous operation. While regular maintenance has helped, Im astonished that I have done nothing but tires, oil changes, brake pads and a new oil dipstick the entire time. Nissan has been quick about recalls - the throttle issues seem limited to those who fail to heed the recalls. I dont baby the car at all - cars are meant to be driven. Its been on dirt roads to cottage country and through nine Canadian winters with salted roads without rust (save for one muffler bracket which was replaced for $60). While the design is showing its age and its no luxury car, I am very impressed overall.
