By CAC83 - March 10 - 10:00 amI bought this car and never had any problem with it.. always serviced at the dealership. goes from 0 - 60 in 9 seconds if it is 5 speed. the fuel economy is around 28 mpg. In your are serious about buying a compact size car this is the way to go. faster than a civic and a jetta cheppear than a Corolla a jetta or civic. Nissan Sentra is your choice.

Reliable.. WHAT?! - 2001 Nissan Sentra
By Nick B IL - February 20 - 1:40 pmUnfortunately I have not been as lucky as others who have posted here. I have had the computer go out at 70k, the rotors go out at 100k, the brake pads are replaced every other month, I get about 17 MPG. I have had the fuel filter replaced, the steering column replaced, and must do regular flushes to all fluids. I bring it in monthly to a mechanic (and have switched a few times just to make sure the mechanics werent messing with the car). Can anyone say lemon?

Best Car - 2001 Nissan Sentra
By sarjarm - February 8 - 10:00 amI love my Sentra! Its never given me any problems & is very fun to drive. the only complaint I have is that sometimes parts are pricey. But compared to other imports, I guess the price is pretty good. It has very good fuel economy. All around, I give it a 9.5 out of 10

I like it - 2001 Nissan Sentra
By Drex - February 5 - 8:20 amI have been content with my Sentra SE. It gets good gas mileage (30s) and has been relatively problem free. The ride on this car is a bit rough at times, but Ive become accustomed to it. Some issues Ive had to repair are the A/C needed to be recharged, O2 sensor replaced, and the drivers side window motor was replaced (automatic windows).

Great small car - 2001 Nissan Sentra
By Dreama - December 11 - 1:13 pmI purchased this car new with about 12 miles on it and now 5+ years later it has 44,000+ on it. I really love it. Its fun to drive this 5 speed. I have a lead foot. Great gas mileage. My son and I fight over who gets to drive it. I have replaced the rear brakes, including the calipers. I havent had any problems. Recently an exhaust issue, the replacement OEM will be 595.70 for the muffler. WOW that is expensive. I havent found it less expensive yet. Ill keep looking on the web for a better deal.

Thumbs Up - 2001 Nissan Sentra
By HoustonTrev - October 27 - 10:00 amWe now have 43k hard-earned miles on the car. It was in the shop only once for two safety recalls. Other than that it has gone without a hitch. Even the tires still look good. I love the broad powerband of the engine coupled with the 5 speed. The stereo only sounds good when the volume is high, but I like it that way anyway. :)

Excellent Purchase - 2001 Nissan Sentra
By Sentra - July 19 - 5:10 amI purchased my 2001 Sentra GXE in June of 2001. I financed it for 5 yrs. It still runs as well as it did when I drove it home brand new. Hopefully it will last another 5 years.

Pleased as can be - 2001 Nissan Sentra
By Pleased as can be. - June 1 - 10:00 amI got this car right before I left for college, brand new. It has been absolutely wonderful. I have had to take it in a couple times for minor, car particular problems (ie cruise control cover came off, drivers side window started acting crazy). I think its a nice looking car and heads above the competition. We looked at Corollas as well and they arent near the car the Sentra is. I love the interior; I think it doesnt look like the inside of a base, economical compact car.

Good Car for the Money - 2001 Nissan Sentra
By PirateJake - May 31 - 6:20 amLots of headroom for tall people, peppy SR20 engine, sure it rattles and is noisy but it cost next to nothing and is pretty quick for what it is. 105k miles no real problems. Low quality paint. I have had it since the showroom floor and plan to keep it for quite a while longer. Excellent college student car. I commute into Minneapolis every day in it. Civic reliability with Saturn prices. Go for the 5 speed in the charcoal grey or black. Replace the Firestone tires with some Yokohamas. I hit a deer years ago and the car still runs like the day it was new. Five stars for the money.

was good, now bad - 2001 Nissan Sentra
By dee - March 27 - 3:20 pmBought this car almost 4 years ago. Ran fine until the warranty came off, then suddenly started having problems. Note: if you hear loud humming when you do hard turns or in cold weather, do NOT let Nissan tell you thats "normal". I now have a power steering rack that is toast, and will cost $1100 Canadian to replace. Apparently, the humming was warning me there were problems, but the dealership told me there werent, UNTIL the manufacturers warranty came off. I had purchased the extended warranty, but guess what - they say it doesnt cover it either! It seems I am not alone - there are several reports of this problem, but Nissan just says, too bad, you bought it, we dont care.
