This Year's Model Updates:

Beloved by compact car enthusiasts, the Nissan Sentra SE-R returns after a seven-year hiatus. The Sentra SE is no longer available, though Nissan has created additional options packages for the GXE to make it similar to the SE.

Pros:
  • SULEV emissions status for CA model, 165-horsepower SE-R sport version, pleasing cabin design, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Generic styling, GXE and SE-R models command premium price.

Sporty features and better than average performance, for a car of its class, have made this a fun car to drive. Both interior and exterior features are well designed and give this car a feel bigger than the compact cars of only a few years ago. My only complaint is that the suspension got much softer after driving it for 3000 miles than it was during the test drive.

This car is super awesome and fun to drive! The 2.5L in my Spec V pulls hard and always has more power to offer. Its surprisingly powerful for a straight 4. I drove it very hard on the 1st tank and still got 26 MPG out of it. But this car shines the most when you take it out on country roads and take some corners at speeds that dont seem like it should be able to handle, but it does handle them, VERY nicely. Im the 2nd owner and its got 85,000 miles and its never any problems.

Well I bought this car about 3 months ago and Im very pleased with it so far. I really like the exterior styling opposed to the older sentras. One thing I dont like is the power, I wished it had more. I know there is the Se-r and Se-r spec V but 126hp in isnt a enough for the GXE. The 2000 sentra Se even had around 140hp. I think Nissan should have kept that horse power in the GXE for 2002. But overall its the most reliable car you can get. I would much rather have this car than a 2002 Honda Civic any day. I recomend this car to anyone who is thinking about getting a economical car that isnt over 20,000$

Its a great car for one person. or maybee two. I took it on a 3000 mile trip and it was fine. I also took for friends on a weekend trip for 600 miles and it was a bit small. Great car.

4 cyl auto that can do a burnout....I like it. It isnt a perfect car, but I really love it. It has great pick up for what it is and it has awsome handling. Some other guy said spec vs handle bad in the snow...this car doesnt have that problem at all. never slides anywhere and I beat on it too. I had it up to 120...I think it can do 130. Overall I love this car. Fun, conveinent(4 doors), quick, had a pretty good stereo(workin on a better one...hehe). Great car for the money.

  • The Little Car... - 2002 Nissan Sentra

Good car, almost 75000 miles and still running as new. Reaches great speeds in short time, very strong. The engine had a recall but Nissan took care of it. Unlike other reviews where said that Nissan did not notify their customers. Sorry, they sure did, several notes were sent in the mail. Other than this, the car has been great, I do take care of it. Service it on a timely manner (well... I stretch a bit). The little car is still in great condition after almost 5 years and I intend to keep until it dies on me. Thanks Nissan!

I bought my car off of the first owner (personal friend) who meticulously maintained it for the first 41k, it was a peach, after that it all went down hill, the cel is pretty much always on for one reason or another (it eats 02 sensors), fuel economy is terrible, the best I have managed is about 29 mpg hwy and thats shifting at 2k, the trans mission grinds 3rd gear, and the paint has started to Peel at 65k, Peel! And my car has always been garaged! Still, it does have some perks, great handling and torque and great in snow but not much else, this will be my last Nissan

  • Love the Nissan Spec V - 2002 Nissan Sentra

I have over 30,000 miles on the car and its only a little over a year old. I love to drive this car. Ive done every engine mod including taking out the balance shafts and grounding the knock sensor and Ive NEVER had to take it into the shop/dealership. I still have a smile on my face everytime I get in this car. Great gas mileage and REALLY fun to drive. I highly recommend this car to everyone young and old. LJ

Great performance. Stiff suspension. Made two trips from Colorado to Wash. St. in the car, its not the most comfortable to drive that far when youre over 40 but it was fast and cheap -- and fun. Get a radar detector.
