This Year's Model Updates:

Beloved by compact car enthusiasts, the Nissan Sentra SE-R returns after a seven-year hiatus. The Sentra SE is no longer available, though Nissan has created additional options packages for the GXE to make it similar to the SE.

Pros:
  • SULEV emissions status for CA model, 165-horsepower SE-R sport version, pleasing cabin design, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Generic styling, GXE and SE-R models command premium price.

  • A great car for the great price - 2002 Nissan Sentra

Hey, this is not a BMW, but it sure feels like driving one (with that price tag). For the pirce of US$15000, I am a happy Nisaan driver.

Ive owned the vehicle for a little less then a year. Its been fantastic. Mechanically sound even with a few mods added from previous owner. Absolutely fun to drive. Only gripe would be the torque steer when giving a modest amount of gas from the start. For a tuner fan like me though, it provides more fun. For already being a 6 year old vehicle the engine on this vehicle runs flawless with 85,000 miles. A warning to potential car buyers... you will want to drive this car aggressively, it begs for it.

I bought this sentra XE for saving money. It does not have keyless entry, power windows, but has CD and AC. Runs well, has 5 passenger seat, great fuel economy, so I guess this is perfect for some money saver? Wow!

This is my favorite car ever. I have had cars of varying makes and for some unknown reason, I love this car more than any of them. I have a nearly bare- bones 02 XE (CD, spoiler and A/C are the only options) and Im just as comfy as can be with it. This isnt to say all is perfect. The seat fabric in the XE is just embarassing - some weird triangulation thing going on there, but the cloth is extremely durable. Overall, an excellent car. I wish it were still built in the US of A (built in Mexico), but at least the engine and trans are still built in Japan.

  • A good bet - 2002 Nissan Sentra

I bought this car in Jan. 2003, and it was a former rental. I was going from an 88 Honda civic to this one, so I was pretty impressed. Its a good looking car. A bit small, but my family of four fits just fine. A few things broke: front pwr. windows wont roll, AC works only on high. I am bummed, but still happy with my choice.

  • Major Issues After 60k - Lemon - 2002 Nissan Sentra
    By -

I bought a Nissan thinking the brand was on par with Honda and Toyota...boy, was I wrong. I have never had as many problems with an automobile as I have with this car. When it was still under warranty, I had minor issues. Past 65k...Ive had the A/C break twice, normal issues, but the best are the well documented problems with the catalytic converter, pre-cat, and recall Nissan claims they performed on the 02 2.5L engines of this model. Bottom line: Nissan lies, the pre-cat never gets fixed, will fall apart, get sucked into your engine in small bits, mingle with your oil, and slowly eat your engine from the inside out. STAY AWAY!!

  • The smart choice! - 2002 Nissan Sentra

Bought the car new 9/02, ripped 25k out of it as of 6/03 and its as good as new. Mechanically very sound little car, classy interior that blows Civic and Saturn away. Cant beat the price either and at 38mpg highway, its environmentally sound as well. Drove it from Charlotte NC to Washington DC during Presidents Day Storm and the traction is GREAT, I passed spun-out SUVs left and right. Worth your money.

  • Solid dependable car - 2002 Nissan Sentra

This version of the Sentra combines nimble handling, quiet ride, plush interior, and great gas mileage. Zero mechanical problems in 20 months of driving. The improved engine is problem-free and provides plenty of power.

  • LOTS OF CAR FOR THE MONEY!!!! - 2002 Nissan Sentra

If you are looking for a compact per- formance vehicle for around $20k, this car is PERFECT!! After driving a Honda Civic Ex for the past 3.5 years, Im in heaven!! Were talking 175hp vs. 127hp. It MOVES!! After reading another consumers review describing the Spec V as a "pocket rocket", pretty well sums it all up.
