This Year's Model Updates:

Beloved by compact car enthusiasts, the Nissan Sentra SE-R returns after a seven-year hiatus. The Sentra SE is no longer available, though Nissan has created additional options packages for the GXE to make it similar to the SE.

Pros:
  • SULEV emissions status for CA model, 165-horsepower SE-R sport version, pleasing cabin design, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Generic styling, GXE and SE-R models command premium price.

  • Great car - 2002 Nissan Sentra

This car is one of the best cars you can get for the price you pay. There is no other car on the market that can do what this car can do for under 20K. Its got great acceleration and its just fun to drive with six speeds. The car handles smoothly and the seats are very comfortable. They hold you pretty well in place when you make those sharp turns. And for 17" wheels, the ride is extremely quite and smooth. The interior is spacious and there is a lot of trunk space. The car is big enough to fit 4 while sporty enough to have fun with. The gas mileage is good too for a car with this capability.

This thing handles like it is on rails.0-60 in just over 7 seconds and brakes from 60 in 121 feet. This car is very fun to drive and draws lots of looks from others from its factory body kit and 17" wheels.

  • Love my 02 Sentra - 2002 Nissan Sentra

I love this car! Weve had this car for a year and a half and have put 35,000 miles on it and we couldnt be happier. It runs like a top, it is a charm to drive. It is my third Nissan, and I wont be shopping anywhere else from now on!

  • 2002 Sentra GXE With Synergy Package - 2002 Nissan Sentra

This is my second Sentra I have owned. The first one was a 1986 model and took me to 186,000 miles before the tranny gave out. Already that says something about the Sentras reliability. So far, this car has been great!! Its very quiet on the highway, the ride is very comfortable and has enough power to get on the highway. The handeling on this car is great. Weve driven the car from CT to VT and got there on just under half a tank of gas. The trip is about 260 miles!! Amazing! The styling of the car is just beautiful. It reminds me of a miniature Mazima (one of the reasons we bought this car). Overall, I would highly recommend this car to anyone.

  • Intermittent Cruise Control - 2002 Nissan Sentra

I love Nissan.Leased a 98 before buying.Had problems from day 1.The inside is often noisy, the rattles vary in volume, frequency and location. The cruise is intermittent & they cant find the problem. It works on restart but is a concern.A rear speaker has blown repeatedly w/o resolve. Also the entry remotes work off/on. Otherwise, the car is great.Their lack of competency & empathy is disappointing. If resolved,Id have bought another Nissan. The fact that Ive had problems in a new car over 2 years, makes it hard to trust Nissan. Would like to know if others are having this happen, Nissan says no.

road holding performance is incredible, id like to put on wider tires however for increased lateral acceleration and acceleration seems a bit slow, possibly due to a restricting air filter ... not sure tho, otherwise i like everything about this car.

I must say this car hits the spot for bang for the buck. I just replaced my first spec-v after it was totaled from a head on collision at 35+mph. I walked away with only sore muscles and nothing else. The whole front end was smashed in but there was not damage done to the interior. I must hand it to Nissan for building such a safe car.

  • Love My Sentra - 2002 Nissan Sentra

So far Ive got just under 600 miles on this car and I love it! Its peppy, fun to drive, comfortable, and looks great. I got mine with the Synergy Package (bigger wheel/tires, better radio, spoiler, fog lights, map lights, cruise control) and still got a great price. Its loaded with features. Compared it to a Corolla, an Elantra, a Focus and a Civic. In test drives, it blew them all away. Plus, Nissans are reliable.

  • Looks are Deceiving - 2002 Nissan Sentra

I test drove many cars before I bought my SE-R. I test drove Cougars, Celica GTs, Grand AM GTS and the new 2003 Tiburon GT. They all were fine but none in them put a smile on my face the way this car did. It gives you all the power you need when you need. It gives you a great sense of the road with its somewhat stiff suspension and can brake on a dime. At under $18,000 how can you go wrong.

  • Owning my Nissan Sentra Se R - 2002 Nissan Sentra

I bought my car brand new in 2002. Oil changes were done every 5,000 miles. I did have some trouble with the way the alternator was wired, and also trouble with a sensor. The car would not move when stepping on the gas, even while driving. The emission control needed replaced, but was just under an 8 yr. warranty. I drove the car until 2010 and my daughter drives it now.
