Overview & Reviews
Beloved by compact car enthusiasts, the Nissan Sentra SE-R returns after a seven-year hiatus. The Sentra SE is no longer available, though Nissan has created additional options packages for the GXE to make it similar to the SE.
- SULEV emissions status for CA model, 165-horsepower SE-R sport version, pleasing cabin design, fun to drive.
- Generic styling, GXE and SE-R models command premium price.

Bye bye Accord - 2002 Nissan Sentra
By Texas Greg - January 6 - 7:06 pmTraded in my anemic 95 Accord EX (2nd one) for some serious fun. I am not disappointed so far (only had it 4 days). Handling is excellent and has ample power which I havent fully tapped yet so stay tuned. Very supportive seats and quality interior design. Rockford sound system is worth every penny.

Run for your life away from this car!!!! - 2002 Nissan Sentra
By Bob - December 27 - 5:36 pmFor the first three years of ownership of the Spec V, it was relatively problem free. As I write this, the car sits in the shop needing a new head gasket and timing chain. Last month it needed a new radiator and ran out of radiator fluid. I have been diligent about oil changes and routine maintenance. Last summer it mysteriously ran out of oil 3,000 miles after an oil change. Nissan Corp is a JOKE and did not respond to any letters sent its way about this lemon!! As for the recalls mentioned, I was NOT informed of any of them. The car has 60,000 miles on it and as soon as it is returned to me, it will have a "for sale" sign on it. There is a "cover up" Nissan is not mentioning here.

I definately recommend the Spec V - 2002 Nissan Sentra
By ewraven - December 7 - 2:06 amIve got 5500 miles on it so far. Its been a really good car. Very fun to drive. The rear end likes to slide; but, its nothing a better set of tires wouldnt fix. Seats are perfect. I took a 2000 mile trip and didnt have any sore spots. Shifter gets bad reviews; but, I got used to it very quickly. Only option I didnt get was the ABS/Side Airbags. I wish I had gotten the ABS, those wide tires like to slide on wet blacktop streets.

Mini-muscle car - 2002 Nissan Sentra
By SER165 - November 16 - 10:00 amFantastic deal for the price. 2.5 liter Altima engine in a car this size/weight makes it feel like a mini-muscle car; can burn rubber from a dead stop, acceleration from a stop is awesome and power going uphill and passing from speeds from 55-75 m.p.h. is amazing. Handling is excellent with sport-tuned McPherson struts and strut tower brace up front, improved torsional rigidity of the body due to 3rd member, large anti-sway bars front and rear and multi- link beam suspension in rear.

Simply Spec V - 2002 Nissan Sentra
By Aldie - October 12 - 2:00 amI bought this car in the beginning of 2002. Today is the 2nd year I own this car. This is actually my first brand new car purchase. And in my opinion, this is a very solid car. This car has very good power, quick acceleration, useful accessories, good styling, and good handling. The only complain I have, is that this car has been recalled 4 times already. Hopefully they fix all the problems. Sad to hear but, I will be trading this car for a 2004 Acura RSX Type S.

Great Car! - 2002 Nissan Sentra
By cobb_cruiser - October 1 - 10:00 amI have owned several Nissan vehicles (Maxima, 2 Sentras) and love them. They are definitely built to last long miles. The only problem with my current Sentra is with a clutch plate. I have had it replaced once (under warranty), and it has gone bad again. I need to take it in to the dealer again for repair.

Decent Econobox - GXE Synergy Package - 2002 Nissan Sentra
By kenjae - June 17 - 9:14 pmIve had my Sentra for almost one year now. I recently had a Nissan dealer do a 25 pt inspection. I was told my rear motor mount was torn, my throttle body needed cleaning as well as a few other minor issues. I have had the car since 55,000 miles and I am at 76,000 now. The thermostat went out at around 73,000. Basically, it is a decent decade old econobox. The factory battery is still in there working fine. I get high 20s in town mid 30s highway gas mileage. A/C kills a lot of engine power but its got a sunroof. Engine noise is not too bad. Road noise can get frightening if it is a nice pot hole. Be careful on windy highways. Performs better than expected in the snow with allseason tires
