This Year's Model Updates:

Beloved by compact car enthusiasts, the Nissan Sentra SE-R returns after a seven-year hiatus. The Sentra SE is no longer available, though Nissan has created additional options packages for the GXE to make it similar to the SE.

Pros:
  • SULEV emissions status for CA model, 165-horsepower SE-R sport version, pleasing cabin design, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Generic styling, GXE and SE-R models command premium price.

  • 2002 GXE w/Synergy Package = Fun - 2002 Nissan Sentra

Super fun to drive. Excellent gas milage, no rattles or squeeks and nice to look at. Almost no road noise even up to 80 mph. The only problem I have had is the sticking map lights but it is a common problem with the car and it was fixed immediately. Excellent service from the dealer. At $13,000 it is a real bargin.

I bought my 02 Sentra with 25 miles on it. I now has 140,000 and has only seen the shop for tires, brakes, and oil. It gets wonderful gas mileage with the 1.8 L 4 cyl but the car is light weight enough that it is peppy and fun. The only downsides are the seats are not that comfortable for long rides and it could definitely be quieter at highway speeds.

After my Ford Ranger died, I wanted something that got more than 20 mpg and had cruise and air. The Sentra has this and more. Lots of fun to drive, GXE has lots of extras, and did I mention lots of fun to drive.

i bought my vehicle new. 18 months later, my paint has that "orange peel" look, rockford-fosgate radio doesnt work, and on one occasion the car suffered total electrical failure at 60 mph and left me stranded on the side of the road. the upholstery on driver and passenger seats have worn terribly. this car is a far cry from my 1985 300zx, quality-wise. according to nissan, nothing is wrong with my car. local dealership refuses to do any warranty work. worst car ive ever owned.

I got the Spec-v Its an awesome car. I got the fully loaded one. Side Air bags sun-roof everything. The car is the fastest car Ive own yet. I would recommend it to everyone.

  • Great value but minor issue with quality - 2002 Nissan Sentra

This car is truely a great value, a similarly equipted toyota or honda cost at least $2000 more. However, I do have some issues with the quality of this car. My power window switch and the map light tend to get stuck and refuse to pop out quite often. Otherwise, I found this car a lot of fun to drive.

This is a very fun car to drive even though transmission went out about 2 weeks later (driving it normally). Good thing I had factory warranty.

  • When I can drive it, its great - 2002 Nissan Sentra

Bought my Nissan Sentra Spec-V on July 16, 2002. It has been a pleasure to drive … ample power, handles great, stylish, fun to drive. Love the six speed stick, the interior is very cool and it is the best car in its class for the money. However, it only has 318 miles on it and it has been to the service department 2 times already! Currently it is in the shop to repair the clutch noise and because the engine is knocking. Sounds like a diesel truck when I start and turn off the car. Other complaints – gear shift takes some getting used to (a little stiff and plasticy) and the rear end styling could use a touch up to match the ultra- hip front.

Great car for a great price, speed and acceleration is unrivaled for anything in this price range. I just wish the gas tank was bigger, but it suffices. A great car to drive, takes off really quickly. You have to be careful because theres alot of torque an its FWD, so you have to be on your toes.

  • Not bad... - 2002 Nissan Sentra

Fast as hell for a little four and an automatic (My son is yet to teach me stick, so no Spec V for me). But the build quality is so much lower than my past three Altima SEs. Numerous problems with the brakes and even the parking brake (it was not holding the car). Also body hardware is cheap. Happy with the aftermarket leather. Car has refinement issues, and the driver- comfort level needs improvement. But it is a blast to drive and turns heads, since people confuse the front fasia with a body kit. But why did they take it off on the 04s? It looks less agreesive. Oh well. Hopefully it will hold up through the end of its lease in 05.
