This Year's Model Updates:

The Maxima has been (controversially) redesigned, providing more power, more room and more amenities to the luxury/performance sedan buyer. Key among the improvements is 222 horsepower from the standard V6, a boost in rear-seat legroom and an available 200-watt Bose audio system.

Pros:
  • Silky and powerful V6 engine, sports car moves, room for the whole family.
Cons:
  • Odd styling details, high price, rough ride quality with SE suspension.

  • Great car - 2000 Nissan Maxima

2000 Maxima GXE, 39,000 miles. Just replaced the stock tires. Could have gotten another 10 - 15k if I had rotated them more frequently. Had the alignment checked - didnt need it. Just had the brakes checked. Mechanic told me I have another 20 - 30k left on the pads. Havent done anything else other than routine maintenence. I still love driving this car. It drives like new - very tight,no squeeks or rattles. Lots of power and acceleration at all speeds, super smooth automatic transmission, Excellent performance and handling, totally reliable and good fuel economy.

Best car for the cash. Ive had no problems, and after 3 years still enjoy driving it. Id buy another in a heartbeat.

  • LOVE the Maxima - 2000 Nissan Maxima

This car is even better than the advertised "4 door body, 2 door soul" that Nissan previously advertised it as. So much fun to drive, it almost sucks to arrive at your destination. Great juice off the line, and even stronger passing power on the highway (and believe me, Ive tested that numerous times!). Bottom line: this car will not disappoint.

  • overall gr8 car! - 2000 Nissan Maxima

My mom bought this car brand new in 99 and took gr8 care of it. I got it on my 16th birthday in 05. It had 48,000 miles on it and apart from normal wear and tear items, no repairs were necessary. Ive loved this car even before I got it. The look of the car was what got me first. It had sleek lines and absolutely beautiful pearl white paint. Then inside, the leather is pristine and the controls are very accessible. All my friends loved the car too. The car currently has 108,000+ miles (college and back) and so far, Ive only had to replace the radiator, o2 sensor, MAF sensor, alternator, front and rear struts, and a rebuilt transmission. I plan to keep this car till the wheels fall off!!!

Ive owned or driven couple of dozen cars over the last 20 years including Mercedes Se400, Brougham, Bentley etc.Maxima is not yhe most powerful or luxuriuos, but when it comes to quility, craftmanship, comfort or reliability itll hold its own against any. Its a great drivers car thats fun, fun, fun to drive

This is my second Maxima. It always seems that you get more car than you paid for. I traded in an Accord for this Max and am totally satisfied. Great value.

The car is a blast to drive. Keep your fuel injectors clean! Mine is an automatic SE, leather interior. What I love most is that no matter how fast Im going(60-90mph), when I step on the gas, I get instant hard strong acceleration. The faster I go, the more stable it is. I drive LA Basin freeways, people speed up to try to prevent you from making a lane change in front of them, but the Maxima is too fast for them. I accelerate too, and all they can do is watch my tail lights. Mine has 150,000 miles on it, and still going strong. I commute 90 freeway miles one way to work, and wouldnt drive anything else.

  • The Shoe - Living Legend 194000 - 2000 Nissan Maxima

I love this car. It has been a part of my life for 10 years, a I have loved every part of it. Reliable as anything I have ever owned. We call it the shoe, because well, it looks like a black shoe. Has 194000 miles and 58 oil changes. Runs like a champ and still gets 20 mpg.

  • What a car! - 2000 Nissan Maxima

Bought this car new in December, 1999, 5-spd manual. Changed oil every 3,000 miles, maintained according to dealer and Nissan requirements. Did slip on maintenance a few times; but car never had issues as described by other owners. Car driven as daily commuter and for long trips, driving was a dream; "drove it like I stole it"! My baby is now hitting close to 10 years old and now having some issues. Tiny oil leak, bottom of engine somewhere leave a couple of drops every time I park and transmission getting whiny. But still runs as strong as day driven off show room floor.
