Overview & Reviews
The Maxima has been fully redesigned for 2004. It now rides on the same underpinnings as the well-received Nissan Altima. This year's Maxima is longer, wider and more powerful than the previous version.
- Roomy interior, lots of upscale options, sweet V6, available with a manual transmission.
- Some small, oddly arranged controls.

My Fifth Nissan Maxima - New 2004 SE - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Al Kappenstein - December 29 - 2:00 amThe 2004 Max is my fifth. I started with a 91,92,98,2000 and now the 04. The 04 Max is by far the best of the litter. It has come a long way. I thought my 2000 Max was as good as it could get, but Nissan proved me wrong. The 04 is a good looking car (sexie as my wife says) and the performance matches the look. I had it in the drive way 45 minutes and the neighbors were all over it. In fact two of them asked me to adopt them......no kidding. It is fun to drive. My previous cars all were manual shifts, but I went with the automatic/manual trans in the 04. I am thrilled with its performance. If you love to drive, the 04 max is just for you.

Bext Maxima Ever - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Msquare - December 29 - 2:00 amThis is my 3rd Nissan Maxima (previous models 1996 GXE, 2000 GLE). I absolutely LOVE this car!!! Nissan really got it right this time. This version is much more comfortable than previous versions. The car handles and rides very well. Also, a lot more luxury items than previous models.

Compare than buy this one - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By stevexsxsxsxs - December 29 - 2:00 amShopped for nearly 4 months, and really drove them all. Even took a decibel meter to measure road noise. Maxima was number 1. For overall form, fit, and function nothing compares under $40k. We drive it everyday to work and to Canada twice a month for ski trips. I can afford nearly any other human car, Id buy another Maxima, dot.

Luv My Max - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By TCross - November 29 - 4:53 pmok after reading some of the other reviews i am trying to figure out what did they do wrong to make there maxima give them so much trouble. I have had my maxima since it was brand new back in 04 and i have not had the 1st problem. I will live by Nissan and say that they have a great car on there hands. I love my maxima and i am currently working with my dealer now to get in a 2010 maxima. word of advise if you take care of your car your car will take care of you. so to the people who gave this wonderful car a bad review take care of your car and you will not have problems out of it

Too many problems w/ $40,000 car!! - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Mike Frakes - November 29 - 11:33 amI purchased this 2004 maxima in dec/04 with 14k miles on it. Since ive owned it i have had it in the shop 6-7 times! As with other reviews, an anoying shimmy in the steering wheel at 60-70mph. Dealer has balanced tires several times, resurfaced the front brake rotors, still there, tired of messing with it!! Clunking in front end over slow speeds and sharp bumps, front struts were replaced after 3 attempts to fix. (I had to suggest it!) Rust around skyview roof after it was replaced 2x. Once for safety recall, second for leaking badly when rains. Rust developing under front of hood lip.( Under the paint!) Numerous trim items replaced because of poor quality!! Too many problems for 2004 car!!

Nissan Maxium Best - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Dearl Adamson - November 22 - 2:00 amI shoppes all competative cars in this price range of sedans 2004. I first saw at the Denver auto show and it caught my eye as the best looking style wise. I was very suprised when I found the price as it looked far more expensive. When I did a test drive at John Elway I was completely sold and purchased. It has looks, inside room, comfort and in city get 23 miles.
