Overview & Reviews
The Maxima has been (controversially) redesigned, providing more power, more room and more amenities to the luxury/performance sedan buyer. Key among the improvements is 222 horsepower from the standard V6, a boost in rear-seat legroom and an available 200-watt Bose audio system.
- Silky and powerful V6 engine, sports car moves, room for the whole family.
- Odd styling details, high price, rough ride quality with SE suspension.

best 6 cylinder engine-- Ha Ha! - 2000 Nissan Maxima
By D. Griffin - May 20 - 3:46 pmRegular check engine light 1 "we had the gas cap on wrong". 2 "we overfilled the gas tank. 3 A bad ignition coil $115 4 fuel injection harness was routed wrong $0 5 "other 5 coils are bad" $358 3, 4, & 5 were a 3 week span. (42k on the car). I understand that the maxima has an ignition coil at each cylinder (in lieu of spark plugs), but shouldnt it be better? No one at the Nissan dealership even seemed Apologetic.

Max Rocks - 2000 Nissan Maxima
By madaboutmax - March 28 - 10:00 amI test drove Passats, Accords, Camreys, Legacys and domestic sedans before choosing the Maxima. The combination of power, built quality, design, resale, and reliability was just not matched by any of the others. Its simply the best car Ive ever owned and the best car Ive ever ridden in thats affordable.

Love the maxima - 2000 Nissan Maxima
By Maximadriver - March 22 - 10:00 amAfter driving a Grand Am for 5 years I decided to break down and buy a new car. I can really say I love the Maxima, it has plenty of power for an automatic transmission driven sedan and despite a few minor problems with paint, it has been extremely reliable for me.

A nice looking lemon - 2000 Nissan Maxima
By Anthony - February 9 - 6:43 pmI bought this car a year ago because I heard Nissan are good cars sense then I had to replace spark plugs and compact because of vibration, alternator, now radiator is not keeping any water in it, it stalls out when Im at a traffic light. I now have a bad taste in mouth concerning this car and on tire time at a $150.00 a piece

Holy Heck Yeah - 2000 Nissan Maxima
By JayGau - February 4 - 10:00 amI love this car. I dont know what I would do if something was to happen. It is just unbelieveable how it handles and accelerates and stops and takes bumps and everything else i forgot to mention. However; I cant get too into it because my last car was a 1990 Corsica so this is a lightyears step up. But i love this car and I have had a habbit of racing corvettes which isnt really that smart cause I do lose but only to vettes so far. I have been in some other newer cars and the interior in this baby is so much better than other craps ive been in. Main point is ease of every single control. WOW! WOW!Double WOW!

Good car - 2000 Nissan Maxima
By CVanHorn - February 4 - 10:00 amI bought this car when the new model came out, because I opted for a manual transmission, the colors available was limited. I wanted a black one but got a gold one instead. I still like the color. No major problems so far in 4.5 years. Had to have the keys re- programmed recently in order to start the car. That was inexpensive ($45). No other problems at all.

Nothing But Issues - 2000 Nissan Maxima
By Sunshinej01 - January 3 - 3:56 pmI bought this car with 47000 miles and have had nothing but issues since. I first replaced the MAS, and have since replaced both front ball joints and axles, air conditioner clutch pulley, water pump, brakes, and still have many issues including water leaking in from mysterious places, sputtering upon cold start, and my cd player is also very sketchy. This was my dream car, but I now wish that I had never purchased it. I would have never dreamed that Id have put over $2500 into repairs in two years while still being under 90000 miles.
