This Year's Model Updates:

The Maxima has been (controversially) redesigned, providing more power, more room and more amenities to the luxury/performance sedan buyer. Key among the improvements is 222 horsepower from the standard V6, a boost in rear-seat legroom and an available 200-watt Bose audio system.

Pros:
  • Silky and powerful V6 engine, sports car moves, room for the whole family.
Cons:
  • Odd styling details, high price, rough ride quality with SE suspension.

  • Good but not perfect - 2000 Nissan Maxima

I bought my Nissan Maxima GLE in 2006 it had 94k. Overall the car is great but it does have some problems. So far I had to replace my starter (which is to be expected), the O2 sensor, had trouble with throttle control motor relay and power windows control switch. The car does not perform as well during cold season. It takes a long time to warm up, engine throttle and transmision do not respond as fast, power windows are slow during cold weather. Rides pretty good but the trunk ratells while driving. Gas mileage could be better.

Leased this car originally & it has been such a great car, I bought it a few months before lease was up. This is the only car Ive ever wanted to buy after leasing it! Love the handling, comfort& power. I like a car that will jump out in traffic when necesary, & accelerate quickly when needed - this car does both very well. Even though GXE was the base model, it has many extras that I really appreciate. It feels like a luxury car, & is a great value for the price. It has been very reliable & weve had absolutley no problems,. Just replaced original tires at 39K miles, & have not needed to do anything else other than scheduled maintenance.

After driving a 95 f150 for a while it was a pleasure to drive this car, the fuel mileage was way better, and the performance was outstanding. My only complaint is that it doesnt look the part. the "Bose" sound system is incredible. i wish we had bought the traction control for it cause i dont even go mid throttle sometimes and the wheels just spin away from all the low end torque. This car is an excellent daily driver after driving a 3 ton brute every where. But i would highly recommend this car for anyone who wants a thrill, with an above average fuel economy.

I have fallen in love with this car. This is the first car i have owned that i can realistically see myself with 5-7 years down the road, and even longer. I am a tall guy, 65 and this car offers me TONS of leg room. Im not a big fan of the Bose, so i replaced that with a juicy 800 watt system, the paint is a little thin, but the engine, the beautiful SE gauge cluster and the Auto Up/down mirror makes this car awesome.

I test drove Passats, Accords, Camreys, Legacys and domestic sedans before choosing the Maxima. The combination of power, built quality, design, resale, and reliability was just not matched by any of the others. Its simply the best car Ive ever owned and the best car Ive ever ridden in thats affordable.

I have owned four Maximas and have never been let down. They combine performance with luxury features that no other car in this price range can deliver.

I love this car. I dont know what I would do if something was to happen. It is just unbelieveable how it handles and accelerates and stops and takes bumps and everything else i forgot to mention. However; I cant get too into it because my last car was a 1990 Corsica so this is a lightyears step up. But i love this car and I have had a habbit of racing corvettes which isnt really that smart cause I do lose but only to vettes so far. I have been in some other newer cars and the interior in this baby is so much better than other craps ive been in. Main point is ease of every single control. WOW! WOW!Double WOW!
