This Year's Model Updates:

The Altima's winning formula continues with few changes. Smoke is a new exterior color choice, and four-cylinder models meet stricter federal emissions standards. Models with California emissions are now classified as Partial Zero Emissions Vehicles (PZEV).

Pros:
  • Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinct styling.
Cons:
  • Low-grade interior materials, considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control.

For the first year or so, this car was the best thing I had ever driven. It looks great inside & out, its very powerful for a 4-cylinder, and its pretty good on gas. Then the problems started happening... having to replace a steering joint, numerous brake work, engine cover coming undone, sensors out of whack, you name it. I am extremely meticulous when it comes to servicing my car, which is why I dont understand why all these problems kept coming up. And the car just turned 5 years old, with just about 100,000 kms only. This car has become a nuisance - I will never buy another Nissan, and Im now hoping I can sell it or that it gets stolen. Seriously.

  • Dont rush buying a Nissan at the Avenue - 2004 Nissan Altima

The car looks nice. After a year the engine had to be repaired for a recall and it still rattles and using oil. The car is very noisy and rides like a buck board. Motor is slow pick up. The dealership was not up front when we bought the car. We had no vehicle and should not have rushed in buying the Nissan, usually buy Fords. We are very dissappointed in the car and very, very disappointed in the dealership in not keeping their promises. We will go back to Fords.

Love this car. This is my third Nissan (simply because I love cars ) My mother has the Quest and My father has the Murano. They are the best car, they never breakdown, the Engines last forever, and it is excellent on gas, plus the ride is smooth

  • Great car - only a few problems - 2004 Nissan Altima

Overall, I really like the car. Ive had to put it in the shop for failure to start, CAM sensor, and O2 sensor problems. I did NOT enjoy that part of owning the car. Ive spent about $550 in repairs in 2 years. I just past $70,000 miles. I guess thats not so bad...

I purchased it because I like the body style. I like the drive, comfortable for 4. Good fuel economy.

  • Altima: The 4-door sports car - 2004 Nissan Altima

Being 21 years old I never expected Id be purchasing a 4-door car. After getting behind the wheel of a 3.5SE I knew I had to have one. I never realized a mid-priced 4-door could be so fun to drive and handle so well. I bought my Super Black 3.5SE the very night of my first test drive. Im proud to say that the Altima is my favorite car and Im not overly sad to let my Accord V6 go.

I purchased this car for my wife but I have fell in love with it myself. What a gutsy, responsive vehicle that is very pleasing to the eye! I really enjoy driving this car. The V6 is so powerful that you better hold on when you dump the gas.

  • Cant go wrong... - 2004 Nissan Altima

I cant stress enough what a beautiful car this has been. Ive put over 20,000 miles on it so far and its been a fantastic car in every respect. Great mileage, complete comfort, handles wonderfully. Not a single problem yet, I doubt any will arise soon. I get about 30mpg on highway and mid twenties (depending on driving habit) in the city. Its put to the test on Los Angeles streets and highways everyday and takes it like a champ. Great for long trips with four adults- PLENTY of room. Adult passengers in the back seat have ample leg room, without the front seats having to scooch up at all!

  • A Winner! - 2004 Nissan Altima

I bought an Altima in 1993, the first year in production, and drove the car for 130K miles. The engine never wore out, but I decided to trade the car because the interior had seen too many hot summers. I could afford more car, but I didnt even have to decide which new car I was going to buy. The Altima was one of the best and most reliable cars I ever owned. My new Altima is awesome in appearance, handling, comfort, and price. I hope to enjoy many years of dependability with my 2004 SL with leather seats and convenience package, as I had with my 1993 GXE.
