By Robbie - August 13 - 1:00 amI purchased this car 2 years ago and I actually like it a lot. I do not speed excessively, my tire pressure is where it should be and its recently been serviced, in town I get 14 mpg at best. I might have sold it, but its been reliable for the most part.

I love This Car - 2001 Nissan Altima
By LOVE MY CAR - June 28 - 4:23 pmMy mom bought this car New 2001 in Ct. In 05 the car became mine. When I got it it had 35,000 miles on it, my mom took very good care of the car with all the regular maintainable. I drove the car to Miami and stay for 9 months driving. Then I drove it to TX. This car has needed some work, but the car is 10 yrs old, manifold gasket @ 95,000 structs & shocks, hoses, and tire rods.. The rest of the stuff regular maintenance. This car runs great, The seat motor just went out the stereo system & speakers could use a major upgrade. I have 99,000 miles on the car and just wanted to know how long I can expect to drive.. LOOKS LIKE I GOT WAYS TO GO. Ill definitely buy another NISSAN!

Keeps on Ticking - 2001 Nissan Altima

I just had my first service problem this week after passing 70,000 miles in 26 months. The check engine light came on- I needed two new oxygen sensors. $400 is not bad after some serious use.

OK for the Dont Cares - 2001 Nissan Altima
By fiblack - April 12 - 2:00 amI now have 22,000 miles on the car. It is fun to drive and handles good (except in cross winds). The car is nice but I hate the fact that the right turn signal does not always cancel, the dash rattles, several jerks when the care changes gears, and when slowing down, and a wiper switch that works just by touching it. Of course the Nissan dealer says all of this is normal for the Altima. Must be a Nissan corporate saying. I had a 1997 Ford Escort that was a lot better in quality and just as fun to drive.

By Bob Snodgrass - April 2 - 9:26 pmI bought this car used from a dealer with only 40,000 miles on it. It ran great for about a year, up until about 60,000. Then we had some major mechanical problems - things you would not expect to go wrong so soon. The first thing was the air conditioning went out - cost $2400 to replace. Then something weird went wrong with the instrument panel that caused the cruise control to fail - another 600.00. Now the intake manifold gasket is gone (a problem these vehicles have) and the car idles poorly. Were tired of soaking money into this car- Our other Altima (a 96) was reliable which is why we bought this one. Were going back to Toyota.

I like my little car - 2001 Nissan Altima
By PlatinumGLE - April 2 - 3:30 amAfter having a 98 Chevy Malibu for 2 years (First car) and repairing it at least once a month.. This little Altima is a great little car. I bought it with 50k for a steal, it is a Titanium Pearl Metallic GLE with every option but ABS. It was meant to be my college car but now i am trying to get it paid off by next year since i am now a Honda employee and have discounts. I have read complaints about the braking in wet weather, when you have a vehicle w/o ABS what do you expect? Brakes lock up when you hit them... My car stops fine.. It handles great with 16" rims, looks great with clear tail lights and tinted windows.. If you are wanting a 01 Altima.. I say GO for it!

150K and still going - 2001 Nissan Altima
By Lee - August 13 - 11:26 pmI bought the car new. Manifold gasket replaced at 135k. Mine lasted little longer than many others I read. I was lucky that my mechanic only charged me $300. Front brake was only replaced twice and rear brake once at 120k. Changed battery twice every 4 years since new. Oil change with mobile 1 every 5k. Thats it. Very low maintanance car. Enough power to get around and smooth enough but not a luxury just little better than average sedan. Little bigger than compact and little smaller than midsize. Gas mileage around 22-24 mixed driving.

stronge car - 2001 Nissan Altima
By milad - July 2 - 9:07 pmthis car really last for ever it has now 220000 miles and it was back to life again after running on the car without oil it was miracle engine started knock and I thought the engine is went out simply pulled the dip stick was no oil at all bought 4 quart of oil poured in to engine and after 3 minute the engine was back to normal you will never see that in other cars stronge engine reliable and over all good car just check your oil every month or 3 weeks and it will never disappoint you this is my sitaution

Great car! - 2001 Nissan Altima
By StephanieHenry - March 21 - 10:00 amBought this car shortly after totalling a 96 model. I feel completly safe in an altima! Great performance, no major issues so far. Some small issues: drivers window a little off track but no motor problems. A little road noise but if you want a soudproof car you need to spend a little more. Some vibration on hwy, but I think its more alignment and balance due to the stiff suspension. Great car for a low price and it will get up and GO when you want to!

Just average - 2001 Nissan Altima
By steve - January 18 - 6:10 amI have had this car for eight years. It has been okay except for the noisy hubcaps, which have been replaced twice while under warranty. They still drive me crazy when driving under 10 mph. You hear constant squeaks and rattles. Mileage is not great, 23 mpg combined. Ride is comfortable and decent power for a 4 cylinder. Radiator and CV boots needed changing after 80,000 miles. A/C clutch has been making noise for 2 years, but still works.
