This Year's Model Updates:

All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.

Pros:
  • Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.
Cons:
  • Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.

  • Solid as you can get - 2005 Nissan Altima

This is a great car. Got the black on black and for the price nothing comes close to feeling as nice. Ive owned a car from all three of the big Jap companies and while the Lexus is the best of the three the Altima is second and way ahead of the Accord.

What a fun car to drive, From the response of the gas pedal, the stability of the suspension, and the comfort and support of the sport bucket seats I look forward to jumping into the drivers seat each and every day. The car comes stock with all the after market goodies you can expect to pay big time money for. The dash is nicely laid out and the stereo produces sound that is incomparable. The seating in the rear is comfy and spacious, through the car in sixth gear on the highway and expect to get 35mpg. I couldnt ask for more in a car. Good job Nissan.

  • No ABS Brakes - 2005 Nissan Altima

I purchased my Altima last September & was very excited since I had a 88 Maxima I traded. My new car lacks power (quick acceleration) (4 cyl engine) definitely underpowered & affects mileage. The driver bucket seat is not comfortable & the original seat was installed at a angle-had it replaced. My biggest concern is not having ABS system. I had ABS before & didnt realize the added safety in having ABS brakes. Im seriously considering trading my car in for a 3.5 Altima with ABS or purchasing a Honda or Toyota. Cars are so experience & purchasing a new that lacks quality to say the least is extremely frustrating. I normally keep a car 10 to 12 years but feel this car will be the exception

  • The best car I have ever owned - 2005 Nissan Altima

I had a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder which I had nothing but problems with. I went to Riverhead Automall and I fell in love with the Altima, I get easily over 400 miles to a tank of gas. The car is comfortable to drive and feels like you in a cadillac! At first I was scared going back to driving a car , after owning my Altima for 3 months i would not trade for any SUV.

  • The New SER - 2005 Nissan Altima

Great car...stylish, sleek with great performance. When owning a SER, you stand out alone as few others are on the road...which makes you special. Driving is easy, seating is comfortable, and the powerful engine can get you out of a crunch much quicker than one realizes. Its an eye catcher....as much so as any sports car.

  • I love my car! - 2005 Nissan Altima

This is my second Altima. I think it is the sharpest car out on the road! It has great pick-up for a 4 cly. The trunk is huge. I have nothing but great things to say about my car!

  • Luster wears off quick!! - 2005 Nissan Altima

I had written a review with higher ratings when I 1st got car but that has changed dramatically. Car started to pull to left more and more. Let go of steering wheel & you might hit curb or cars. Seats are uncomfortable for 50 plus mile trips. Interior parts have popped off or loosened and I have noticed that the black paint job on exterior is of inferior quality for $25,000 plus car. Engine sounds like it will need to be fixed soon. Rear view mirror does not dim well enough at night that you dont squint during night driving. I believed in Nissan before but lost faith that they even care about customers more than the buck. Ridiculous maintenance prices. No mp3 compatibility.Lots of road noise.

  • Great Car If You Can Afford It - 2005 Nissan Altima

Besides overpaying $2,000 on the car, I love the car. It definitely has LOTS of power. Torque steer is very evident when flooring it from a stand still. Crusing at 80mph on the freeway feels like your going 30. Leather seats are nice, but take awhile to warm up. Stereo is pretty nice. Suspension is really stiff, which makes freeway driving a little bumpy. Average about 17mpg in the city with a heavy foot so thats pretty good. The navigation system tells you your current fuel usage and mpg, distance to empty, distance to next maintance...etc. Overall a very fun car to drive! Just dont get ripped off at the dealer!

  • Excellent model - 2005 Nissan Altima

I have had this vehicle now for 5 months and it still feels like its right off the dealer lot. The interior is functional, stylish and modern and the exterior as well as the color (blue) doesnt get old. I have owned several Nissans in the past but this is the first Altima. Alas, my heart is set on an all-wheel-drive Maxima when they come out and I will reluctantly trade this in or sell it on the private market once that day arrives. But I have thoroughly enjoyed the time I have spent driving it. The only problem I have is that I did not purchase the 6-cyl to save money while waiting for the Maxima but sometimes the 170 horses is just shy of whats desired.
