- Capable sport ute with Mercedes-Benz levels of refinement.
- Looks like the Mercury Villager minivan from the rear.

Worst benz ever - 1998 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By MLHater - January 24 - 10:00 amWhen this vehicle came out, I was intrigued by its unique skin and the cache of the three pointed star. After being on a waiting list for almost a month, I bought the dealers demo vehicle for a reasonable price. The car performed well except for an annoying driveline rattle. I took it to the dealer, but they could not fix it. Annoyed and late for a meeting, I merged onto the interstate only to find that the car would not shift out of second gear. IT NEEDED A NEW transmission with less than 10000 miles, this was unacceptable. I traded it for an RX300 and have had no problems.

ml 320 - 1998 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By ptomlin - December 14 - 2:00 amFun to drive, this first year model was not fully sorted out and has some small reliability issues. Once sorted out, it performs fine. Later years of the ML 320 were reputed to be better. It does do OK as a 4WD well and is nimble.

LOVE IT! Very happy! - 1998 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By demimoore - May 27 - 10:00 amI havent had this car very long (just got it used), but I can tell you that so far everythings perfect and I LOVE driving it -- its beautiful, not too big and not too small, rugged yet smooth, and just feels much more solid than all of the other mini-SUVs I test drove. I think that even if it costs a bit more than average to service it eventually, itll be worth it! (My husband may have a different opinion.) :)

So far cant complain - 1998 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By JTCML - December 1 - 10:00 amSo far so good after 20,000 miles. I leased the ML used with 46,000 miles included a 2 year Starmark warranty. The rate was so low I could not pass it up. I have only had it in once to correct the rear tailgate lock. I live 65 miles from the dealer so I buy my own filter and get the oil changed at Walmart with Mobil 1 for under $50. My thought is only use the dealer if you have to. I have the same complaints with the quirky layout of the cup holders and window switches. Overall it has been a pleasure to own and drive. Would consider getting another if the deal was right.

Great Vehicle - 1998 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By MLC - August 19 - 2:00 amI have thoroughly enjoyed driving this vehicle for last 6 years. It has been reliable, comfortable and useful. The dealerships I have dealt with have been great. I feel very safe driving this car in high traffic urban areas and cross-country. Handles excellent in all weather. Very few repairs have been needed in 6 years.
