Overview & Reviews
Mercedes expands its M-Class with the addition of the more powerful and luxurious ML430 and gives the 320 more standard equipment.
- Capable sport-utes with Mercedes-Benz levels of refinement, powerful engines.
- ML320 looks like the Mercury Villager minivan from the rear. These sport-utes are better on-road than off.

Hope for the best - 1999 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By Juan C Aguilera - December 7 - 11:50 pmSince the purchase, the brakes were done, including the front and rear pads. The airconditioner compressor had a major leak, so it was replaced, check engine light on resulting in a tuneup because it had the wrong plugs, stability control light on/cruise control inoperative, replacing the brake switch corrected the problem. installed a K/N air filter, now highway mileage is 24.6 mpg at steady 65, not bad for the size and weight of this vehicle.

ML320 - 1999 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By Captain O - October 28 - 2:00 amI love this car. After two Ford Explorers (91 and 95) which were in and out of the shop at the drop of a hat, how wonderful it is to have a vehicle that is reliable.

Owning a 99 ML320 - 1999 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By irishpigdog - September 6 - 2:30 amI love the sensitivity of the gas pedal and the ease of the steering wheel, but the gas mileage is pretty sad. Handful of electrical panel problems, but nothing major. No engine problems so far from owning it for six years. Good vehicle.

ML430 is a Good Vehicle - 1999 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By Christopher R. - July 27 - 8:43 amWe have owned a 1999 Mercedes-Benz ML430 vehicle for four years. It has been extremely reliable. This is our second Mercedes and wont be our last. I recommend keeping up on service. We have had no problems. I do wish the front leg room was just a little bit bigger. I am 61" and it could be just a little longer.

Terribly Unreliable - 1999 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By drfaust91 - January 13 - 10:58 pmI have had more problems with this vehicle than all seven other vehicles i have owned combined. Granted i did buy it with 100k miles on it, none of these things should be going wrong with a Mercedes Benz. I have had U-joints fail, bolts on both sides of my front suspension break twice, electronicsgo out on the center dashboard, three ignition coils fail, and the A/C compressor has gone out. Aside from that it has a rough ride like riding in a sports car without the fun. Much of the car uses cheap materials that can not hold up to everyday use. It does have decent performance for the size vehicle it is, though.

Poor quality - 1999 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By uro doc - January 8 - 10:00 amThis car has been in the shop several times. It has cut off in the middle of the road as well as a separate instance where the steering wheel locked up - both very dangerous situations. Plastic pieces have broken. The power windows broke on the night my son was born and I had to run back and forth from the delivery room to the parking lot so the repairman could get the window back up. It a fun and practical car but simply is not reliable considering it 2 years old.

Cant Keep Up With Repairs - 1999 Mercedes-Benz M-Class
By RANDI - July 11 - 10:26 pmI purchased this vehicle 1 year ago used with 70,000 miles. Since then I had to replace driver side window switch ($482.00), cad converter($2000) oxygen sensors($1000),rear brakes & roters($1000), the interior squeaks, front squeaks, etc.. many more repairs to come and it did not hold its value I might as well just burn it!
