This Year's Model Updates:

All M-Class models get an interior facelift available in one of three new colors, optional third-row seating and a Touch Shift automanual transmission. ML320 buyers get body-color bumpers and trim, real walnut inside, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knob, revised interior fabric, seatback map pockets and footwell lamps. In addition to these items, a standard navigation system, high-grade leather, and heated seats come on all ML430s.

Pros:
  • Lots of interior space, quite comfortable, carlike ride and handling, excellent snow vehicle.
Cons:
  • Poor reputation of build quality, looks like a minivan, not particularly adept off-road.

THIS SUV IS 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND RIDES LIKE A LUXURY CAR. EXCELLENT SERVICE. WHEN YOU BUY IT WITH MAINTENANCE YOU ONLY PUT GAS IN IT. DEALER DOES ALL THE REST FOR FREE. WHEN THIS STARTS LESS THAN $40K, BEST VALUE IN TOWN. OURS HAS HAD NO PROBLEMS. DRIVING IT FOR THE 3RD YEAR NOW. PURCHASED NEW.

At 40K miles, 3 sets of complete brake pads and rotors, 2 navigation systems, complete fuel system replaced, 1 set of exterior mirrors, headlamps with so much condensation they look like fish tanks (but the dealership says its normal??), antitheft is so good that it even locks me out and the transmitters wont unlock the vehicle (the key will, but then the alarm sounds and wont stop until you disconnect the battery---no wonder my neighbors wont speak to me anymore). I can go on for days, but if I can give anyone advice if they are even CONSIDERING buying this vehicle......turn and run and dont look back!

Great machine for east coast winters. Large trunk space and drives more like a car.

Bought it used w 63,000 miles. Replaced the starter @ 70,000. 10x better than my grand cherokee. 5x better than my Denalli. The quality and solid feel make me feel like itll be around for many years to come. The domestic SUVs really felt worn when they had this many miles. This one still drives like new.

Bought a Starmark vehicle. Wonderful vehicle! Dont understand the comments about fuel mileage. I get better than the EPA estimate. What do you expect from a truck? Solid as a rock and not top heavy feeling like other SUVs.

  • MLs are cool! - 2000 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

We enjoy our 1998 ML320, From the SF Bay Area we have driven it to Oregon, Seattle and British Columbia. We also have taken it to Las Vegas Nevada numerous times. The ML handles well on mountain roads at high speeds even in the rain. We take our ML on camping trips, cross country trips, lake picnics and we also tow our 17 ft. Bayliner boat. MLs are not perfect but name an SUV in its class that is as tough? The ML can haul ass!

I am very impressed with the overall comfort and performance of my ML. The car is roomy, fast, firm, and well designed.

  • Whats your problem? - 2000 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

We bought this used with just 6,000 miles on it and a Starmark warranty after owning two new Pathfinders. What a difference. This is a great SUV. Comfortable, fast and, I have to risk saying reliable. We havent been let down once in 65,000 miles. I marked it down a little on build quality because we have had a couple of stupid switch type problems but thats it. Our average gas consumption of 18 is pretty darn good for a V8 of this weight. We just had the brakes replaced for the first time and are on our first set of replacement tires. Not bad for a vehicle now at 71,000.

  • solid value - 2000 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

Extremely comfortable SUV. Its not a big load hauler or a tow vehicle, but load up the family and a bunch of suitcases and drive this ANYWHERE! Ive had a Chevy S10 Blazer, and the M- class handles snow and slick roads MUCH better.

  • Lame as the others say - 2000 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

In three years, Ive been to the dealer for many issues from the SRS light (twice), CD player, seats slide, Sunroof chatters, Brakes go out at 25K (undersized I feel), driver window switch, ESp light, etc. Tires wear out around 28K. My carfax report can tell it all. Very disapointed in a 45K MB, would have been better off in a Denali, Tahoe, or Ford. Friend has two ML and no problems?? Go figure.
