This Year's Model Updates:

For 2004, the E-Class wagon benefits from the same full redesign the sedan received last year. A V8-powered version of the wagon is available this year and the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system is optional on both sedans and wagons. Finally, the DVD-based navigation system, which was delayed for 2003, is on the options list this year.

Pros:
  • Sleek and dignified design inside and out, pleasing blend of ride and handling, sophisticated safety features, all-wheel drive available on both sedans and wagons.
Cons:
  • More expensive than competitors, confusing control layout, brakes lack progressive feel.

Weve had our new 2004 E320 4Matic Wagon for 2 weeks. Its early, but so far its a gem. The new 4Matic systems seems very sophisticated. Three points of minor interest: the fuel milage seems not to be as good as the 2003, on ours, the compass isnt working right and the 3rd seat head room seems less than on the 2003 - a trade-off with aerodynamics, Im sure. Nevertheless, the car feels solid and well planted on the road.

  • The perfect car - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I had been looking at the sport sedans such as Infinity and Acura, but although they were fast, they lacked rear seating capacity for 3 kids. Also the interiors appear to be cheap and not too appealing (especially if you like the luxurious look while still maintaining the sportiness). I fell in love with this car the moment I looked inside. It looks rich, not cheap at all, definitely has the wow factor. This car had so many really cool bells and whistles, I have never had such a comfortable ride, great handling and speed adjusters make for a great ride.I average 28mpg on hwy and around 20 in town. not bad for v6.

  • One awesome car!! - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I have had BMW, Porsche, Lexus, and other Mercedes in the past. My E500 Sport is almost all those cars combined into one. It is sporty, comfortable, and classy. The power is simply smooth and strong. I love this Mercedes.

Excellent ride, great handling, lots of room. We are waiting for our new leased one to arrive. It handles well, is demure, but can really handle speed and curves.

  • Love in it! - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I am loving it & it drives beautifully. The only thing they could improve is the COMMAND system, I think a touch screen would be a lot easier and safer.

  • After a month - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The car is well built with great safty features, great style, and great options (if youre willing to pay for them). The only problem I am having is with the braking system. Every time you let off the brakes a computer humming sound happens for a couple of seconds. Mercedes says that is normal. The problem is sometimes the humming is so bad that it rattles the dash. Will soon take in to service for a second time. I have noticed the computer system sometimes misreads but hopefully very minor and not too often. Other than that it is a great car.

  • Electrical nightmare - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Car has been and electrical and mechanical nightmare. Dealer had car for almost 2 months trying to fix charging problem. Software upgrades and failures galore. The dealer has been fine, but the overall quaility is terrible. I have owned Mercedes for over 20 years, and this thing is a lemon.
