This Year's Model Updates:

The E-Class sedan is completely redesigned this year. A more elegant body, along with more power for the V8 model and more luxury (including four-zone climate control and an optional massaging driver seat), bring the latest midsize Benz up to date. Last year's E-Class station wagon, however, carries over into 2003 virtually unchanged.

Pros:
  • Legendary solidity, effortless performance, state-of-the-art safety features.
Cons:
  • Firm ride for a luxury sedan, touchy brakes.

One of 1st 2003 E-320s delivered in my city, the car had electrical, computer/mechanical probs with climate control, airbags; rear window sunscreen. Engine computer problems. BUT -after the post-delivery gremlins were fixed, car has been reliable ever since. Great cruiser and easy to handle in stop-and-go traffic. 30 mpg on 400 mile trip- cruising 80+ mph. Overall,my E-320 is winning me back. Dealership is excellent.

E500 performance is awesome. I have a 1999 E320 that I thought had a lot of performance but the 2003 E500 has taken me to another level. In 4 years, I havent had one thing go wrong with the E320. The E500 is much roomier in the passenger compartment as well as the huge trunk. The car corners beautifully with the 3-level selectable stiff ride. I did not get the sports package because I think the car is sporty without it and the price of the sports package is high for what you get. Also, I dont like the hard riding performance tires that come with the sports package; they make a lot of noise and wear out quickly.

Drives as smooth as silk, quiet, handling and suspension is awesome. The first impression is the nice change in exterior body style. The front section looks space age with smooth lines consealing any front bumper. Xenon headlamps that blend so well with the body that it looks truly artistic. The interior is the captivating with the instrument panel, walnut trim and ergonomic design that wraps around the driver. The overhead lighting, the 10 sound speakers, the instrument panel all have been designed in harmony. What a dream, its got to be the best E class ever.

I purchased the car with 23000 miles (certified). The ride is good, and it drives well. The engine strains somewhat. A good road car.

It certainly is the most powerful auto I have owned, faster than my 1990 ZR-1 and 1967 Shelby GT500. It is comfortable and quiet. I have obtained 22.5 mpg on the highway but it does enjoy a drink in town and will do about 13.5 mpg. I wish the navigation system were more like my Lexus SC430swhich is very easy to use. Guess I just have to accept that it is "German".

  • Perfection - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The new E320 takes what was already one of the worlds premier vehicles to the next level. It is the perfect combination of luxury, safety, and performance. You get a feeling a absolute solidity when driving the new E320, a heavy feeling, yet handling is light and effortless. The exterior styling is clearly contemporary, while at the same time, timeless and sophisticated. Nothing about the design is out of tune, which cannot be said of some of its competitors such as the new BMW 7-series.

  • A Superb Automobile! - 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I purchased the 2003 E320 from an independent service shop Ive been dealing with for more than 15 years. My wife fell in love with how it handled, so I bought it without even a taking it on a test drive. My wifes intuition was right (once again). The E320 is superb! With 39,500 miles at purchase date, I still had over one year factory warranty and 10,000 miles remaining. I immediately took the E320 in the local MB dealership and ensured all factory warranty work and improvements were installed. No cost to me. A year later, at 50,000 miles/4 years, I again took it in to MB dealership. No cost to me. Last year I had the 60K service done by my independent dealer. An absolutely superb auto!
