Though it might not look different, the E-Class receives a substantial freshening for 2000, with an entirely new front end and a revised interior. Stability control, a Touch Shift automanual transmission, and side airbags for all outboard seating positions are now standard. A multifunction steering wheel debuts, and E430 models can be equipped with 4matic all-wheel drive. TeleAid, a cellular emergency service, is standard and the confounding COMAND system is optional. For 2000, free maintenance is provided for the duration of the warranty period. The E300 turbodiesel model has been dropped. Other changes are limited to minor cosmetic and functional upgrades.

I want to throw my E430 on the junk heap - 2000 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Bearvark - February 17 - 2:00 amMy 2000 E-430 4-matic is a piece of garabage. It has only 7,500 mi. Every 6 months it goes in for some major repair.Ive had the radidiator, fuel tank, entire instrument cluster and major AC components replaced and repeated problems with the steering column, among others. Mercedes says "that is why they have warranties". When I mention my warrranty is about up, they tell me dont worry everything is fixed. I have zero confidence in that statement. Unfortunately, I purchased the car. When I inquired about some type of accomodation on a trade in, they refused. I guess they no longer build a decent car nor care about customer satisfaction.

Safe and fun - great car - 2000 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By jwgowdy - December 18 - 12:06 amWe Starmarked this car when we bought it just to be safe, but havent had to use it more than once (cracked intake hose - replaced with no problems). Dealer has been outstanding. This car is very comfy and very safe - Im very pleased my wife and child spend time here. Factory Continentals stink, but thats a minor issue. Overall, were pleased. This is our second MB, and Ill continue to drive them as long as they keep the faith.

Well built tank - 2000 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I stayed away after hearing about issues after the DM/Chrysler merge, but was convinced by my mechanic that the w210 chassis are well constructed and reliable vehicles. While I still own my classic MBs, this is a fine vehicle with modern amenities like powerful A/C, ventilated seats, side curtain airbags. Powerful V6, 4matic, stability and traction control make this an all weather warrior. Car is new to me so I will report back later on reliability.

Amazing quality - 2000 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By TJH - October 12 - 9:23 pmOne of the best cars Ive ever owned. Rock-solid build, amazing quality inside and out, and top-notch engineering. The car has an understated and timeless elegance and beauty and its on-road performance is fantastic. Not exactly a high- performance car, but smooth and powerful. I havent had a more than a minor problem in 6 years (dash bord lights) and it was taken care of under warranty. However, I am quite careful about maintaining and caring for my cars, so I rarely have had problems with any of my cars, Mercedes or otherwise. The dealership service is expensive, but I feel better knowing its being taken care of completely.

Exceptional car except... - 2000 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By overclocked - September 3 - 10:00 amI love this car especially since it consistently gets between 29 and 30 mpg at highway speeds of 75 with the A/C on. One complaint I have is the extensive use of cheap plastic. The plastic vanity mirror fell off of the plastic sun visor in the first year. The plastic center console latch stopped working this month. I also get mysterious electronic malfunctions periodically (3 - 4 times per year) for the ABS and BAS. The malfunctions seem to clear themselves up without having to visit the dealer. And last but not least, the A/C just stopped working. An unusual amout of problems for an otherwise outstanding car.

Expensive Fun - 2000 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By sport shifter - August 30 - 2:00 amI purchased this E430 Sport with 32k miles. Overall its a great car with a few minor problems that are somewhat a headache. All repairs were covered under warranty. Digital instruments cluster replaced due to faulty LEDs, dashboard cracked around the passenger air bags (very common problem)and window motor side replaced. This is our third Benz and I have come to realized that the Benz cars are not the trouble- free car everyone who doesnt own one think. But still a great German engineering at a substantial cost. But when you own a Benz, everytime you get in your car, your always getting inside a Benz.

By mrjohnv - August 3 - 12:24 pmI purchased my E320 in April of 2011 so Ive owned mine now for about 14 Months. I purchased this car out of Necessity since our business sucked since 10 & 11 and I didnt want a car payment. I purchased this car from my mom and yes, I knew that she dose not take care of a car but I took it becase they sold it to me for 4 K. I didnt know it at the time but this car was in sad shape and it took 3 grand to get it back so it was no deal and I still have to paint it but you know what, If a car can take what my mom did to that car Mercedes is one hell of a car maker! This car is comfortable, trouble free and still looks good for a 12 year old car. I will keep it for two or three more years!

Found a lemon - 2000 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By DFreeman - May 29 - 10:00 amIts a beautiful car, no question. My problems have been astronomic. Replaced the tires at 25000 miles. Poor wear in city driving. At 28000 miles I started burning a liter of oil per month. By 30000 miles, it had increased to 3 liters per month. Have since had the engine rebuilt. Mercedes said a new engine would cost 30k but to rebuild it would only cost 10k. They opted for the cheaper alternative. Other than that the car is fun to drive. Not crazy about the cd player in the trunk. Handles the road and is very attractive.
